sorry matt and ben to be 180 degrees inthe opposite - but... this is a general board and the caption under that says "you can talk about anything here" I happen to have a fair number of non-triathlon firends - and a common observation by most of them is that we tri folks are veryy narrow in what we discuss and talk about - sports, trainig and racing - bout summs it up. I could not be more happy to see this discussion going on in the Forum - though I don;t agree with all the comments it has been a very refreshing and civil debate if we start yanking down posts when will it stop? keep it up guys r

I think you need to re-read my plea.
I never ever suggested yanking down posts. I can't do that, and I never asked any moderator to do that.
I simply asked my fellow club members to be respectful of my and others' time. And I didn't mean any offense to the members who started or continued the discussion. I liked the debate too, for a while. But judging by the fact that it had narrowed to just a few members and over 100 posts, I sensed that many of the rest of the forum users were ready to move on. Like me. But maybe I'm wrong about that judgement.
If four users put up 100+ posts debating the pros and cons of 650C wheels, I'd probably feel the same way.

Rob, Hey, thanks for the defense........ This was a great way for myself to see others views between, Obama- the new front runner..... Hilary Clinton-maybe next time..... John McCain-the next possible George Bush Jr Jr..... I see most comments have stayed within the topic of discussion and with varied degree of support per candidate. Yes, I do support the defense of someones opinion and had no idea this would lead to 1200 plus hits, in some five days or so of posting. Heck, I was confused last week thinking of whom was running and having some favoritism toward Hillary....... Now, Barack H. Obama is talking up a storm and the American public is taking notice and taking a stand....... Do I wish another year of debating, no way,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, yet, its the next step upcoming....... Sorry for "dominating" the 50 most recent threads! Hoo Raa! ;D Brian p.s. yea we get too much snow, so its lots more time on the "Fluid2 Trainer" by Trek compliments of the best bike store in Cleveland-------- www.BikeAuthority.com

Agree with Rob - and with Matt. This has been fun and while I do love the back and forth it can get old. That being said I also do not think we need to stick solely to triathlon especially during the off season when the posting is light anyway. And I have gotten a fair amount of off line comments from members loving the threads so i guess it is debatable as to interest.
I am biting my tongue now as the rebel in me wants to start up some nuts with my latest views on the news but I wont.
How about a current events thread that doesnt get searched in the last fifty posts. I didn't even realize you could do that. I just go to each heading and see where there's new ones.

I agree with Matt in one sense. To me Triathlon is an escape. A way to get away from all the junk in the world. It is an artificial world that gives a challenge, you feel great and it is a good diversion.
It lost that with some of these. The problem is it is hard to resist when you read some of these to not jump in.
I guess its cool for those who want to and for those who do not have to just not read them. As hard as that is. Sorry for my Looong comments earlier.

The interesting thing about these discussions is that they've accomplished nothing: - I'll bet no one's opinions have changed (or even been slightly swayed); - After the first page we clearly understood everyone's positions - the last 4 pages were rehashing the same arguments from different directions; and, - I agree with Rob, Suzi, etc. - never, ever, change the open forum concept. Freedom of speech is one thing we can all agree on ! ps. I'll be renewing at the Indoor Tri in March. CTC is the best value in Cleveland!

Suzi, Awesome touch to get "new members and renews" to sign in for the 08 Season...... El President! ;D I find it funny that someone got "noid"----on the bottom of page four with this thread..... Glad they spoke up and got the "Freedom of Speech" topic going..... Yes, its great to have this open forum here, not too mention, this super "Web Page"... From our president, the members and guests, lets all support the club and get our financial support into the "Cleveland Triathlon Club"...... And do not forget to "vote" to get your voice heard on or before March 4th....... If it be for Kucinich, or whoever your choice for the next US. President candidate will be.................... Yours Truly, Brian I don't want to yank posts and censor the Forum, mainly because that would mean I would have to read every effin post, BUT..... Don't worry Jack. If the country can survive 8 years of Bush.....it can survive Obama. It's funny though. I'm convinced that the (D) or (R) next to a persons name single handedly decides who like them. If Obama had an (R) next to his, we'd probably be having the same argument in reverse.

Rob,
You hit the nail on the head!
R vs D or D vs R
Don't forget about those independents....... I know the republicans and democrats have some extreme points, yet we have seen these people switch sides too......
As long as the next president can accomplish bipartisan unity in Washington D.C. with no strings attached to an inside agenda, we can become a stronger country once again.....
Let's send Bush out with a "Na Na Na Na, Na Na Na Na, hey hey hey goodbye"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

R or D really doesnt matter its the philosophy and the views that do. I would vote for a D if I thought they would be a better president. Do you think Oprah will get a cabinet post? And I will intentionally not mention that had Algore gotten elected and been given a platform to foist the global warming hysteria on the country the 8 years of W with economic growth would have instead been economic growth only for the bicycle industry as automobiles were outlawed and the rickshaw industry took over. I will also not post the following link which may be way too controversial for the forum. www.dailytech.com/Temperature+Monitors+Report+Worldwide+Global+Cooling/article10866.htm

I happen to disagree. If Gore won and pushed the global warming action, we would have seen all kinds of new initiatives, new industries, and growth in new areas. Instead we have seen old industry stagnate as manufacturing goes overseas. Designing, building, and implementing new green infrastructure would have created jobs, and put good old American ingenuity back to work. LOL @ data showing a one year drop in temp. Try this from the EPA - Red is CO2, blue is global temp. What do you think is going to happen next?

I will also not post the following link which may be way too controversial for the forum. I've been pulled into this thread again Global warming hysteria, terrorist hysteria, communist hysteria, global cooling hysteria (remember that one from the last energy crisis, it never really caught on).....all the same propaganda in a different package. There is some truth to all of it, but it is difficult to know what the truth is.....we're just spoon fed fear via the media. The idea of global warming making it hotter all the time until we burn up is a misnomer. The "fear" is that there will be large fluctuations in climate as average annual global temperature rises over time, which in turn could alter our way of life. Mr. Bush can talk about economic growth all he would like, but that "growth" is evidence of the one thing his administration is truly good at, spin. The fact is that the value of the dollar is at an all-time low, national debt is at an all time high, and fuel prices have doubled while he was in office....all the while energy companies are making record profits. GDP (which is a crappy gauge of economic "health" IMO) may be up, but most of that "growth" is owed to China (and other countries) who have been investing in our economy and boosting our GDP. We've borrowed and spent money that we don't have during the last 8 years resulting in a massive amount of debt. I don't think that is "growth."

I think the families of over three thousand people on American soil on 9/11 would not agree with the term "terrorist hysteria" nor would the family members of those beheaded by the very real and dangerous terrorists as opposed to the myth of man made global warming. And Rob that chart is nifty but very flawed science that I will not go into nor would it change your mind.
Brandon my mom always called me an instigator and with seven kids in our family I was always able to rile someone up.
