Anyone interested in doing a " Big swim" at Columbia in the next week?
Thursday morning? Thursday afternoon?
Monday anytime? next Tuesday morning? or evening?
I want to do the 2.5 mile version
I will do this either way but thought doing it with others would be best.
let me know.

Andy and I plan on doing a long swim next Monday (8/15). We do this swim a lot and usually start at Columbia and swim to Bradstreet (as do most people). The last time, we swam west out to the turn around when people swim at Columbia, then turned around and swam east to Bradstreet Pier. We plan to do at least this much again next week.
We plan on meeting at Bradstreet Pier at 5:30pm and drive over to Columbia, depending on lake conditions, weather, and such.
You (and anyone else) are more than welcome to join us. I would hate to hear of you swimming this distance alone, I just don't think it's safe.
Let me know if you would like to join. I can email you my number or something so we can meet up.

Hey, I'm interested in the 8/15 swim as well. Do you typically wear wetsuits? Is the lake fairly clean? I'm new to the area and have not swam in the lake yet.

Cris, please feel free to join us.
We don't typically wear wet suits but our decision not to wear them shouldn't impact your decision to do so or not. I got out of the water last time complaining about not wearing mine because I felt like I was swimming about 6 inches under the water, and I will probably put mine back on in the next few weeks as I prepare for IM Wisconsin. I would hate for you or for anyone to feel pressured not to wear a wet suit then get into trouble half way through the swim.
I'm not going to lie and say the lake is clean. When I am stupid and forget where I am and swallow a bunch of water, I end up with a sore stomach. I do my best not to swallow the water, knowing some will get in, and I don't usually have problems. I am pretty devoted to the Nowcast and won't swim if there is a swim advisory because of bacteria.

I won't be swimming tonight as the e. coli count is just too high. I will repost if there is an opportunity to do it possibly tomorrow or Thursday evening. Otherwise, it will be next Monday (8/22)

I may be interested in this depending on the water and if I can make it there. Hope to be at Columbia by 620 to decide if I will join...and I'd do 1.8. Thanks for posting.
