OK - I know that a bunch of people are done with IM - and a few have one to go - and thought the season is on the downward slope people are still racing - sooooooo
We need to get the Monday BRICK back on schedule starting tonight - Let's meet at 6 pm with a 6:15 push off for a nice easy ride and then if you got the juice to run - RUN!!
Tuesday is open water night at Columbia Park - and the water in lake Erie is perfect, actually TOO warm ;] - I'm sure Durno will get the 'Waves & Wings" back on serious track so plan to go out after.
We still have a good 6 weeks of BRICKIN and SWIMMING so we hope to see a LOT of you this week.
Please feel free to pass this on to others
Questions - let me know

Looks like the rain should be gone, I'll be there. If it's still raining I'll get a run in.

Being I am only a newbie I haven't had a chance to take part in the "Waves and Wings" but it sounds fantastic! If this happens to fall through however I believe there was a small contingent of us last week considering hitting up The Boneyard after the swim tonight... the more the merrier! I mean whats the point in doing all the work if you can't have a little fun after, right!

Even if the weather holds, I think I'm out tonight. I need a rest day from exercising in this heat/humidity more than anything.

Now that I've been in the club for a few years I am FINALLY going to try and make the brick tonight. I'm not sure how far these falls are or what this "every man for himself" pace on the return trip is like, but I hope I'm up for it (and I'm bringing my running shoes).....

That's funny Brandon. But I want a full report, like you used to do of those east side rides!

Awesome to see you last night Brandon! It was a more laid back workout as the long weekend training dictated it as such. The "falls" are the Berea Falls and there is an overlook to watch the waterfall. It is about 12(+) miles from Sweetwater for an overall 24-25 mile roundtrip ride. In peak summer with more daylight we'll go further for a 30 to 40 mile ride usually with a hard effort pace line on the way back. Hope you got a good run in last night! ~Martha

Martha and the rest of the Monday night brick crew, Thanks for the workout! I did have a good run and am glad I made it, even though it was for a short time. My report goes like this:
Rushed out of work and peddled home hard. In jeans so I was sweating. Don't recommend riding hard in jeans in 5:00 traffic in August. Quickly packed and hit the highway. Stopped on highway. Started. Stopped. Started. Stopped. This pattern continued for a LONG time. After over an hour on the road I arrived in Lakewood 15 min. after the group left for the ride.
I rode solo, probably harder than during the commute home but I was wearing lycra and not jeans and on my preferred steed. Route was nice and there was a breathtaking bend in the road with the setting sun shining perfectly on the Rocky River. :-) Eventually I saw the group riding in the opposite direction and I u-turned and rode onto the back. Chatted it up for ~25 minutes and had to listen to one continual auto horn for 5 of those minutes (hard to talk during that time). Got back to parking lot.
Running shoes and visor on. Ran ~1.5 miles with Martha. Ran ~3 miles solo. Drove home. No more stopping on highway, but a brilliant setting sun behind the Cleveland skyline. Definitely worth the trip to the far off land of Lakewood......

Sounds like you met a normal rocky river reservation driver!
