What the heck is a special foods bag?

Looking through the athlete info guide it says that the special foods bags are for '"special nutritional needs only."

So, will I have to convince someone that I eat inner tubes and 'drink' CO2, or is it ok to put this stuff in the special foods bag?

I thought it was called a special needs bag anyways???

Brandon - you can put anything you want in the "special food bag" just be aware that you may not get it back - at least at LP the transition bags were in the T-zone where there was limited access - athletes, officials, and volunteers - the special needs bags were out in the open - some volunteers providing oversight during the race but not after mid-night - they also had to be picked up by noon on Monday or they were thrown out
