No more 17+ hour finishers. Cutoff time is 17 hours from the 1st age-grouper entering the water, at midnight.

Interesting.
Does that mean all the slower people will work hard to be in line early? I still don't know where I'm gonna seed myself.....probably closer to the back unless one of you goons nab a good spot and let me in line with you. I don't really want to deal with the stress of worrying about being in line uber early. Finish photo wont show the right time....but bugger it.

I noticed that the swim cut off says that it will be 2 hrs and 20 mins after the last athlete enters the water. Does that mean if you enter the water earlier you technically get more than 2 hrs and 20 mins to finish the swim?

Does that mean if you enter the water earlier you technically get more than 2 hrs and 20 mins to finish the swim? I believe so...It took about 45 minutes for everyone to enter the water last year. So technically, the first swimmer would have about 3:05 to complete the swim....and the last swimmer into the water would have 16:15 to finish the race.

Here is the text of an e-mail that was posted on Slowtwitch from Ann Skerkoski at Ironman. It looks like there will be 2 swim starting points to speed the start up.
Thank you for your inquiry regarding official cut-off times at this year’s Ford Ironman Louisville. Due to event permits granted in 2009 by the City of Louisville and surrounding communities, the following course cut-off times apply:
· The swim course will close 2 hours and 20 minutes after the final athlete enters the water. · The bike cut-off will be 5:30 p.m. · All official finishers must cross the finish line at Fourth Street Live! by midnight.
An element unique to Ford Ironman Louisville is the time-trial start, a mechanism used since the inaugural event in 2007. To more quickly expedite the swim start this year, an additional point of entry will be utilized allowing twice as many participants to enter the water at one time. The final athlete is projected to enter the water at 7:30 a.m. Swim start staging on race day will begin at 5:00 a.m.
The Ironman Team remains committed to organizing a safe and memorable race for the athletes, one that would not be possible without the cooperation and hospitality from our host city. We look forward to seeing you on August 30 and wish you the best of luck in achieving your race day goals.

Sweet! Wonder if they are next to each other or if one gives some yardage advantage.

I'm sure one will give a small advantage. We'll probably be jumping off two of the docks instead of just one. If they can pull this off and get everyone in the water in 30 minutes, I'd be very impressed.

Since im typically a disorganised mess (although not last year, i sat on the wall near the swim start and listened to my ipod alone for about half an hour), will one of you guys let me in line with you in the morning?
