My husband and I are competing in the Cleveland Triathlon on August 2nd in honor of our 2 1/2 year old daughter, Elsie, who has Cerebral Palsy. I completed the Cleveland Triathlon last year with our daughter in tow and raised $19K last year for the cause - it was my first triathlon season. I am now hooked and will also be attempting my first Olympic Triathlon in DC at the Nations Tri. The Cleveland Tri will be my husbands first triathlon attempt.
We are working to build awareness for United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Cleveland through our charity team - "Team Elsie." Many friends and family members have already agreed to join Team UCP and Team Elsie at the Cleveland Triathlon, both as individuals and relays.
If you plan on competing in the Cleveland Triathlon on August 2nd, please consider joining Team UCP (check box upon registration) and Team Elsie. No strings attached, although if you plan to join Team Elsie, we request that you wear the t-shirt on race day in and around the transition area before and after the race to help us raise awareness. Fundraising for the team is optional, but certainly welcome.
We are also looking for bikers and swimmers to compete on Team Elsie relay teams. If you do not want to do the entire tri, but would be interested or available to do one leg of the race, we would love to have you. We have vacant slots we need to fill to complete relay teams with all the other friends and family members who have offered to run and/or bike. Swimming seems to be where we need the most people - mainly sprint distance, but also potentially Olympic. I am offering to pay race entry fees for the relay teams. So far we have about 25-30 individuals who will be competing for Team Elsie on August 2nd (more if we can fill out our vacant slots and include those relay teams).
Please email me for more information at taniajean@hotmail.com And if you would like to help raise awareness for UCP and team Elsie at the triathlon by sporting a t-shirt, let me know so I can include you in our t-shirt/team member count.
