Hey All!
Just an FYI! Anyone wanting to run or bike July 4th in Medina...
They are having the 5k 10k road race, and the "Bike Race" too.

Hi Brian,
Do you happen to know any more information about this event or who I could get in contact with? I have two questions: 1)The 5K starts at 7:45, the bike starts at 8:15, so is one able to do both races? 2)For the bike race, there is a citizens and an expert race, in either race I'm assuming aero equipment is not allowed, correct?
Thanks!!

google Medina twin sizzler and all the info is on their site - you can sign up for a single event like the 5k or a combo 5k and bike - the bike is a small group staggered start to allow you to finish the run then get to the bike - One race is like $20 adding a second cost an added $5 - there is also race day registration -

I haven't done the bike race in about 10 years, but I raced it at least 8 times. I doubt it's changed much. It's an unsanctioned race, so not much rules enforcement. Clip on tri bars are OK, you're just not allowed to use them. They had an expert division and then the guys were split into 5 year age groups up to about 40, then 10 year groups, starting 3 to 5 minutes apart, don't remember for sure. Some groups were very large, 40 or 50 riders each. It attracts a lot of guys that are kinda new to mass start racing, like triathletes, so it can get pretty squirrely (crashes). It's very intense but loads of fun at the same time. I've been riding more this season and have friends trying to get me to race this year, so I may show up. I think the girls just have two groups, expert and citizens. Anyone knows for sure, feel free to correct me. Just checked the site, 5 year age groups for guys www.ywca.org/site/pp.asp?c=gmKULhPcE&b=62510

KKovach!
Hey Hey! You can squeeze in the 5k and the bike race! Or, if you are a true runner at heart, you can run the 5k and 10k.... Heck, pay someone to roll in the bike race and you might be able place in all three events.......lol! Just have all your bike gear ready to roll after your 5k, and the transition to be "race ready" for the bike should be a breeze.......
Thanks to Chuck, for posting the web address for the Medina YWCA..... I had trouble "copy/paste" at work, so now you know!
Brian
p.s. they do get a big crowd, so the earlier the better!
