At the newbies session on July 12, we will swim, bike and run the Fairport Harbor triathlon course (all or a portion depending on the appetite of the group). I would also like to have you practice transitions, so will bring our bike racks. I have official permission to set up the racks in the parking lot, where transition is actually held on race day.
If you plan to attend, please post here.
Unlike the last three newbies sessions, this one will start early. Please arrive at 7 AM. We will be in the water by 7:30 at the latest. First come, first serve on the bike racks. Others can use their car to serve as transition area, but please park near the racks. We will have someone watch the bikes while we swim and run to make this a true triathlon practice. This should be fun! ;D
Oh, and you don't have to be a newbie to attend, but if you are experienced, please leave the racks for newbies. I really want them to have a "race day" experience to help ease nerves.

Depending on the race schedule, I plan on being there to help you out.

I would like to come but can't decide on the swim...I don't have a wetsuit. I was up there about a month ago and the water was too cold for me...Didn't know how much it had warmed up. Thoughts? Thanks.

Water is plenty warm to go without a wetsuit. Probably has warmed up 8 to 10 degrees over the past month.

So, who else is in for Sunday? I'd like to have a good count in order to have enough refreshments for everyone. Thanks!

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong with these directions. I know how to drive and bike there, but I'm not 100% confident on the street names.
Take 90East, Take 2 East. Get off at Rt. 283 exit (Fairport Harbor). Merge onto Richmond street (think it is a right turn off the exit). Stay straight onto High Street. Take a right to stay on High Street. Keep following High Street and take the short steep downhill into the Fairport Harbor parking lot just past 2nd Street.

Jen, I have 3 or 4 friends that would like to attend, especially for the transition demonstration, if it's OK.

Thanks for everyone for coming out yesterday! I had a lot of fun and hope you did as well. Special thanks to Mickey for his goodie bag/Gatorade generosity, Tim E. for bringing the bike racks and showing up so darn early, to Kim Z. for always attending my sessions, to Bill B. for leading the faster bikers/runners on the course and to Tracie Z. (and her mom and grandma) for bringing the bike watching volunteers and watermelon!
