On Sunday, June 14th 2009, the Cleveland Touring Club will be conducting their annual Sunday in June Ride. Last year the ride attracted over 750 riders. Plan now to ride this NE Ohio classic through one of the largest Amish settlements in the world. The ride starts at the Historical Society facilities just off the SE corner of the town square in Burton, Ohio. The route options include 25, 50 and 62 mile loops with an optional 38 mile loop for those interested in completing a full century. You will pedal your bike on scenic, lightly traveled roads while enjoying the sights and sounds of the Amish countryside.
The Cleveland Touring Club has offered the Cleveland Triathlon Club the opportunity to gain some exposure by heading up the Parkman aid station. In addition to gaining exposure for the triathlon club, volunteers will get the opportunity to ride for free, a free lunch, and your choice of a t-shirt or water bottle. The more volunteers we have, the shorter we can make the time slots and you can plan your ride around your time block. The aid station will be open from 8 AM until 3:30 PM. Additionally, the Cleveland Touring Club has offered to reciprocate some volunteers for one of the Tri Club events.
Approximate Times (Subject to change) We probably would want 2 volunteers per time slot.
8-10 AM
10-12 PM
12-2 PM
2-3:30 PM
This is a very scenic ride and a wonderful opportunity to help out the club while also gaining the opportunity to enjoy a nice ride with some freebies. Please post here or email me (janet_e1@yahoo.com) if you would be willing to help out!
Additionally, since my house is 1/2 mile away from the stop, you are welcome to stop by my place afterwards for a nice cold beverage!
