I just saw a news story on Bloomberg that Barack Obama and congress are developing plans to sell product placement ads during news conferences. I think this is a great capitalist idea that should raise some funds for debt relief.

Is the money they would raise enough to offset the cost of basically cheapening our system of government?
I don't like it, some things should not be for sale.

Seems like it would be a lot easier and not cheapen anything to just cut down on the spending. Would take a lot of add's to even cover the 8,000 lines of pork in one of the packages.

Deficit spending is your friend Sid. As long as the spending is on domestic problems, we get the benefit of the multiplier effect. It's not a difficult concept, yet people don't seem to get it.

Deficit spending is your friend Sid. As long as the spending is on domestic problems, we get the benefit of the multiplier effect. It's not a difficult concept, yet people don't seem to get it. Obama will create more debt than has been accumulated by all previous Presidents in American history from George Washington to George W. Bush—combined. Deficit spending might be our friend but this government take over of the private sector and massive increase in spending is much more than that and will keep the money out of the private sector increasing the size of government by a huge factor. I don't see there being much of a multiplier effect on a lot of the pork either that will not stimulate the economy. It would make more sense if more of the stimulus money was actually spent on infrastructure. blog.heritage.org/2009/03/24/bush-deficit-vs-obama-deficit-in-pictures/

Tim Ritt for president.
I've already got the campaign slogan. It's all good baby it's all good. And ring girls at the debates would also be a new touch.

You don't run the economics of the country the same way you run the economics of your household.
But im not going to bother this time. We've had this discussion on and off the board several times, and nothing ever changes....

There is a very real concern for the amount of debt we are accumulating and although it is of course not like a household we cannot continue to let the government spend endlessly. I disagreed with much of the spending of the last administration but that is a drop in the bucket compared to this one. Obama said he is not for big government. Yea right. He also said he wouldn't raise taxes on anyone making less than $250,000 a year. Matt Collister will find out that is not true when he heads to CVS for his next pack of Marlboros. Wonder if that means he will switch to Cubans or a pipe for the transition area. Won't matter probably as it will all be taxed more soon. Interesting link about government and how they work. www.wimp.com/thegovernment/
