A step by step guide: On the day before you want your hangover, do the following: * Run in the morning, do not hydrate well. * Eat a bowl of cereal and one chocolate-covered pretzel for lunch * Do not drink water all afternoon-- just one cup of coffee about 3pm. * Ride your trainer for 2 hours in a hot room. Ride it very hard for best effect. If your trainer's front-wheel holder is not full of sweat, keep riding. (Apparently, one pack of gel blocks will not affect your ability to get a good hangover. Go ahead and eat one if you want.) * Go immediately upstairs and eat two pieces of pizza and drink 5 beers. Mix the types of beer from whatever Tim Walsh has in his pitcher. * Go to bed. Trust me, it works like a charm.

No kidding.
I'm not old by very many measures, but one thing I have noticed recently is that "the next morning" is getting less and less pleasant.

I have never had a hangover
Is that something we should try for?
I thought it is something we are to avoid

You should try it Mike....i can help I am sure you could One problem If you put all of the alcohol I have drunk in a container it would not even be half a 2 liter Pepsi bottle. I might be equal to one can of beer. The last time I had any was in 1986. I get a buzz from alka seltzer plus. I have a very low tolerance. I hate any altered state in my mind. I wanted to keep all of my brain cells because I wanted to drive a dragster. mike

Well, now that you ride a bike, it sounds like a fun experiment. I am still hoping for a chance to drive a dragster so I still need the brains cells 310mph in less than 4 seconds it will help to keep all the brains cells intact. The reason I do triathlons is to be in shape just in case the chance to drive comes my way. don't want to be some fat out of shape slob How is the shoulder? mike

Andy - you're just on the wrong drinking program. I can help. 2 hints before we get started: 1. Eat wings. 2. Don't drink anything that is in proximity to Walsh's mouth. We'll begin formal training on cinco de mayo. Mike - I admire your quest for wellness - if we all could be as disciplined...

Not so much as a quest for wellness as simple logic I do not want to do something that I know destroys me. It is more about not being stupid ( it is stupid to me to do something that I know is destructive) Check the statistics on how the rate of many evils increase dramatically because of alcohol; murder, rape, robbery, suicide , auto deaths ect. but even more so I do not need it to be happy. I have found a source of Joy and peace without a hangover It also will not make me do stupid things that I will not remember the next day. That is scary to me. mike

That may all be true, but it's also a ridiculous amount of fun.

Mike. I would definitely avoid hanging out with myself, aussie, durno, andy, and anyone else that likes to destroy themselves on a regular basis. Isn't that the reason we do triathlons?? If not, I would engage in 30minutes of light physical activity a day and drink lots of water. If triathlons do really make me healthy, I would have never started. Being healthy isn't fun. Who wants to live a long time?
I'm just kidding by the way. It is good to be a healthy individual. Just remember that you are conversing with a bunch of drinkers!

I like the destructive things that make our body better. Getting drunk is not one of them. I am surprised by how many will train for the good of the body and then drink. I do not say this in as a moral issue but simply a practical one. I know I have always been different from most. Again it was because of Drag Racing. As I have grown older I have seen and tried to help people who have destroyed their lives , their families and their bodies from alcohol. I have visited in the hospital, Jails because of alcohol. I have done marriage counseling and counseled with teenagers because of alcohol. I have done funerals because of alcohol. The problem is; some can drink a little and never go beyond that but others it will continue to grow until it controls them. I do want to live a long time. To see my grandkids. I think I will have alot of them. I thought with Durno it was "root beer"? mike

Mike. I respect your comment very much. But, like you said, it is possible to enjoy certain activities without it being hazardous to your health. I am not basing this off any concrete research, but I think drinking a glass of wine or a couple of beers is less hazardous for my health than the 4-5 hour brick every Saturday... especially when it is done in the Metroparks. I've been hit down there! However, it is obviously unhealthy to bust out the ol' beer bong and take down a couple dozen. The good think is I havn't seen that being done in a minute and I'm only 22.
Long story short... Andy's comment was written as a joke, a very witty one. I enjoyed it very much. I don't think it should have sparked any anti-drinking propaganda. But, your opinion is your own and I do respect it.

There is no tone of voice did you notice my comment about Durno and root beer. I am totally okay with everyone on this forum even if i disagree. I just through in some thoughts from experience mike
