I remember reading on this site about someone being sick at the start of the year.
I thought;
"I never get sick"
bad thought.
Jan 8 I got an awful head and throat cold. I decided to burn it out and I stayed with the program. I even ran outside a long run.
Another mistake. After a week I was out. Needed anti - biotics. It seemed to go away about 85% after a week so I thought;
" time to hit it hard and make up what I lost"
Tuesday it all started coming back and last night was the night from hell. The worst cough I can ever remember. Only 1 hour sleep.
went back to Doctor today
pneumonia
This is a total bummer.
I am so off my schedule.
I do not know why I am sharing this but I am hating this.
I was given some cough medicine with codeine. I am sure feeling happy for some reason ( I have never done drugs I get high from alka seltzer plus) but I hate not working out.
I was told to stop training completely.
I guess I will listen.
Anyone relate to all this?
Add to it the wife is still recovering. This is where 14 kids is good
many helpers

Mike- Take it easy as suggested otherwise you will not heal. If you feel OK then easy spinning on the trainer or walking on an indoor treadmill would be OK. If you really have trouble breathing, then rest and drink lots of fluids.
You will not lose fitness unless you are down for more than 2 weeks. Be calm and heal.

...and what you lose will come back much more quickly than when you originally built it. Rest, recover, come back strong.
If you force the issue, you'll just be down longer.

You don't begin to lose fitness for 2 weeks. Hang in there dude. Apples, oranges, and cider vinegar are your friends

ps: I never get sick either, but, in December I had a 3 day cold... then a 24-hour sh*t bug.... then a 4-day cough....
Must be the silly season....

By all means resist the temptation to hammer one out. I was sick for like a month and a half last Jan.& Feb. and I would estimate that it took at least 2-3 months to get the fitness back to where I needed to be. It really screwed the pooch for an April IM. The rest is the best thing you could get right now and as much as you can get. Get Well

thanks for the encouragement.
this has always been a place of encouragement
I guess I was just bummed out bored and afraid I will become a couch potato
It has always been hard for me to be still and rest
thanks

I have been given an antibiotic called Levaquin.
Anyone ever use this?
I have had a bad headache SINCE taking it
also dizziness, nausea, an overall weird feeling.
I do not like the list of side effects
just wondering if anyone ever been on this
it is very strong and used for pneumonia
