www.ohio.com/news/break_news/38530959.htmlMost of you have never met Jeep. To be honest, my only "meeting" with him was once a year in May at the Jeep Davis 5k run in Barberton. Even in poor health, Jeep took the time to make sure he handed every child a medal at last year's Kids Race, which was held during the annual 5k race. Both Elizabeth and Luke were so excited to receive a "finisher's medal" from an Olympic champion! It makes me think about some of the narcissistic athletes of today and wonder to myself, "what planet are these idiots from?" I am old school and I make no bones about it; think about guys like Feller, Williams et. al who gave up their careers to fight in WWII. Would some of these clowns who play professional sports today do what our legends DID in the past? I am not so sure. Regardless of how you feel, please take the time to learn something about a true American athlete God Bless You Jeep

Wow Mark quite a story. Passing up $125,000 in 1960 for the cigarette ad because he didn't want to influence kids the wrong way. That was a lot of money back then. Many of todays athletes won't even give an autograph without being paid for it.
Not many like this left. One of the reasons I don't follow sports like I used to. It is all business now and mostly spoiled prima donnas. Wish I could say I met Jeep he certainly lived an exemplary life.
