To anyone who can help
My kids are in a debate club. They do 5 tournaments a year. There are two local tournaments.
The tournament rules are that each participant must get 5 judges for the local tournaments. I have 4 kids in the tournament. I need to get 20 volunteer judges for each tournament.
Would any of you be able to help?
The first one is at Parkside in Solon on Feb 6,7. You can do part of a day. All of one day. You could do both days.
It is not very hard. Some people decline because they think they cannot do it. You do not have to be an intellectual.
All you do is listen to a case and then judge. The judge is always right. The debaters have to persuade the judges. There is a judge training beforehand.
They provide food for the judges.
You will be blessed and very impressed by the kids. They are ages 14 - 18.
Aussie Rob you would love this and I think you would be very good at it. I know you like debating. You think critically.
It might even help you It has helped me. These kids are amazing.
Actually there are many of you who would be good at this; Matt C. Charlie, Jack C. Brandon and others.
The topic for this years tournaments is
" The United States will Federal Government should substantially reform its policy toward domestic energy production."
You do not have to know anything about the topic. You are to judge by the evidence presented not by what you know. It is actually fun to be a judge and it will help the kids. Without judges there is no tournament.
Let me know if you could help and if you know anyone else who could help
or if you have any questions ask here
