Per your signature line. MXenergy just raised my gas rate from 9.99 a foot to 18.76 a foot. I changed to another supplier about a month ago, after I got a bill for $406 for one month. Alison, your take on gas rates? It's not spammin the forum since I asked you.

Over $18/MCF?!?! That is crazy, Chuck. Nothing in NE Ohio should be that high right now. I may work for the gas company, but gas pricing is complicated business, which is why Dominion is trying to get out of that business, encouraging customers to choose their own suppliers. Gas costs are mostly dependent on supply and demand but other less related markets can sway it and supplier speculation can really mess things up. It is really like gambling or playing the stock market; sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. My current supplier is regularly higher than market value but I am too lazy to find another one. Summary: I am no help Alison

I am an independent broker with Consumer Choice Marketing (CCM). We market gas in OH, MI and PA and sell what is known as a true market rate. All gas is bought and sold on the NYMEX (New York Mercantile Exchange) which is traded daily and closes at a "settle" amount each month. Our rate is capped at $2 above NYMEX. Our rate for December was 8.46 in Dominion and 0.872 in Columbia. When I first got involved with CCM I was paying 16.20 at my office and over 11 at home. Many of our competitors are selling terribly high rates and bank on the fact that you don't look at it or realize you have a choice.
When you hear the radio ads advising you to lock in a rate to avoid rising prices you will know you are hearing a line of BS because gas is very stable for the foreseeable future and market rates are the way to go. If we ever see a big increase coming we will let you know and advise a fixed rate. We can sell a fixed rate to large commercial if desired.
CCM markets to residential, commercial and industrial accounts (they just signed the MGM Grand in Detroit) and sells customer service and great rates and even though there is no contract or penalty for leaving we have a 98% customer retention rate. I will be glad to look at anyones gas bills and let them know what the CCM rate would be and can tell you for sure if you are with the local utility I will save you money. My fax is 888-469-7642.
As far as spamming or advertising our businesses on the forum I see nothing wrong with it and actually encourage it as long as it is not obnoxious. I would much rather spend my money and benefit a club member than someone I don't know. This is a community and if we can help each other I think it is great.
Hey it could be worse I could be posting about politics ;D

This is great news, Jack! I will definitely look into your company. I didn't know there were any suppliers that adjusted monthly to the NYMEX price, I just assumed they were all speculators locking in prices for months at a time. Dominion currently uses the NYMEX + $2.33 (called the SSO) and is always less than what I am paying. When the SSO dropped this fall into the $8 range and I was paying $12, I was fuming!

After sharing a hotel room, following 14 hrs OF Jack consuming nothing but Gu and gatorade, This kind of natural gas Jack is preferable.
Honestly, we were so punch drunk after that race, I am not sure we had any clue if the post race gas was bad or not.
