Who might be the first one fired, for the teams lack of success? Is it possible for the team to recover next year, since this season is pretty much toast for them? I feel for all the die-hard Brown's fans!

The irony of the "fire Romeo/hire Cowher" talk is that the Steelers' success over the long haul I think is due at least partly to the fact that they didn't give up on Bill Cowher in the lean years (late 90s, early 00's).

From what i have seen since living here, Browns fans strike me as the most fickle fans ive ever seen. They lose, and the fans are always looking for someone to blame....usually the coach or the QB.
I don't think it's the coach, i think it's the players. What happened with Garcia is a great example too....he came, apparently well documented, and stunk when he was here. The fans, as they always do, got disgruntled and ran the dude out of town. After spending a little time with the Lions, he went on and rocked the place for Philly, and had success at Tampa. How is that possible if he was as bad as everyone was saying while he was here?
Switching guys out, players and coaching every year isn't working. I say let Romeo work. You can't keep firing everyone when you don't see immediate success.

Aussie Rob, I think most of your observations are valid. But calling us fickle is a gross oversimplification.
This city has not seen a major sports championship since well before I was born (I'm 37). The Browns' last was in 1964. The Indians' was in 1948. The Cavs have never won since they entered the NBA in the early 1970s.
Compounding that is how things have ended in the years we've been tantilizingly close. You don't need to explain Red-Right-88, the Fumble, the Drive, Mesa's blown save, or Jordan at the buzzer. Everyone knows exactly what you are talking about. Chance should have dictated that we would have one one or two of those. Instead, we are the foil in other teams' highlight films.
And, added to all that was the complete, utter humiliation of a former civic titan LYING to the most dedicated fans in the league - fans who filled his crumbling stadium game after game - and moving our beloved team to another city.
What you witness in Cleveland is a social experiment. It's hope stretched to its absolute limits. This place is fueled on the stuff. Hope that year after year ends in disappointment and heartbreak.
So, I read that pitchers and catchers report in exactly 80 days...

Now we all know, Cleveland Pro Teams and Championships are very very hard to come by.
For the Browns, it will take a quality coaching staff to come in and reshape the Browns for 09. Yes the "GM" and the Head Coach are held accountable for the teams performance and/or lack of............
So the change is coming, and will happen at the end of the 08 season. Just a prediction......

First they should fire Romeo. These are all proffessional football players with most of the same abilities. I think its called parity in the NFL. It is the coaches responsibilty to have his team prepared to play on Sunday. After that Lerner should fire Savage. Going into the season with only low round draft picks and no pass defense falls on the GM.

If you take a wr #3 overall in the draft you shouldn't have to worry about him catching the ball. Savage sucks Crennel should have been fired last year after the pittsburgh opening day debacle. Just to show you how bad the clowns are The steelers runner up head coach is the coach of the AZ cardinals. He looks like a pretty good head coach. Are first choices never get rehired they suck so much. Nice thing is is that when the NFL goes on strike in 2010 I will give up my season tickets and never watch them again. Will make sundays alot more enjoyable.

The best thing I ever did was sell my PSL's in 2006. They are.. and have been a complete joke since they have come back in 99.

I was a die hard fan until the team left. Since then I have been excited for exactly one game and that was the Steelers playoff game where they of course choked. I did watch the debacle that was the opener of the new stadium and other than the military fly by and all the fights in the dawg pound it was not very memorable.
They could have stayed away for all I care. Professional sports is all about money and we are only as fickle as the teams that will also jump to the nearest city that offers them a sweet deal with no regard for the fans. I agree with Tim the Sunday afternoons off are great with me.

Aussie- I've lived in or spent significant time in 5 NFL cities. I can tell you, without a doubt, that ALL American sports fans are fickle. Even in the more successful franchises, when a team has a bad year or two, the fans want to crucify them. There are morons in this state calling for Tressel's head at Ohio State - they very dude that took his team to 3 out of the last six National Championships and won one of them, beat Michigan 6 out of 7 times, and won 4 straight Big Ten titles. The toothless idiots in Western Pennsylvania wanted to run Cowher out of Pittsburgh more times that you can imagine. Colts fans wanted to get rid of Peyton Manning after his first year in Indy. The Michigan alumni called for Lloyd Carr's dismissal during his last 2 years, so, he retired and guess what those girly Wolverine fans got for it - their worst season in thier 100+ year history (I love it !). Now, there are exceptions. The Pittsburgh Pirates have not had a winning record since 1992 - yes that's 16 years. The Detroit Lions are perpetual doormats. The Cincinnati Bengals know how to completely screw up a good team. What do all those franchises have in common. Sh*t for ownership. Fans of those teams have every right to b*tch. Cleveland teams may not have won it all, but, at least they've competed and their fans should shut their pie-holes and be glad that they aren't Pirates-Lions-Bengals fans. I still think Brady Quinn is the real deal. I will close this rant by saying: HERE WE GO STEELERS, HERE WE GO !

Well, another week and another loss.
Romeo and the gang had another chance slip away. Not too suprised........
One sobering thought, we at least, have Lebron and the Cavaliers to help make things bright!

The Cavs do have some "court vision" this year with the whole team, and not just because Lebron is out there.
They seem to have a great chemistry this year, and lets hope they can stay focused when it comes time for the playoffs.
Now the Browns are faced with 3rd string quarter back, ouch! Who knows, they may even put J. Cribbs in the QB spot next week...... Crenel is still the coach, so nothing will suprise me..... Well maybe if they "win" next week......
