Does anyone know exactly how you can register for an Ironman event these days besides on-line?
Starting after Lake Placid, did these events turn into 100% on-line registration? Is there no on-site registration anymore(obviously I am speaking about non-racing individuals)?
Do volunteers still get 1st opportunity after those racing? Does it benefit to volunteer?
I haven't seen any information other that what NAS has posted about signing up for next years race as a participant in this years event.

In general, there is onsite registration the day after a race which is open to atheletes and volunteers first...then, it opens online after that. In the case of Lake Placid, the event filled with up with onsite registration...so it never even opened online. If there is a race you really want to do, you have to REALLY know and understand what the registration process is...and when it opens. Most are only open for a couple of hours...or less...before they fill up and are closed.
IM Louisville for example only had online sign up starting at noon the day after the race. FYI.. IM Louisville is still open for Aug 30th 2009

Do Full Vineman.
Registration will be available until race weekend next July. So you can register whenever the mood strikes. Then, take the $200 you save on entry fees and have a blast in Sonoma County wine country afterwards.

I was worried that IM had changed its policies after LP this year, but it appears they will continue to give priority registration to Volunteers.
Sara Nelson of North American Sports has confirmed this for me.

Andrew, You are the only person I know that is connected well enough to have an inside line to any IM event on the planet. Us commoners have to look to other options I had originally asked this question in hopes of repeating LP in 2010. There are several people I know who are interested, so I'm thinking we will make the trip for the '09 race, train for a few days, then volunteer and reap the rewards for the priority registration for 2010. BTW, after attending Angela's and Hodska's camp in LP this year, I couldn't go with another outfit. NO WAY! I'm brand loyal ;D
