As many of you will remember, we have participated in the annual USAT National Club Challenge over the past couple years. It starts up again in December and the specifics are below.
Two issues:
We really should have just one designated person who enters everyone's info into the system. Anyone willing to take this task on? Maybe we could have 3 folks - one for each month of the competition... Post here if interested.
Also, this year you have to be a USAT member - they require your member number to participate.
Are we in???
-----------------------------------------------------
The NCC will last for three months (December 2008 through February 2009) and is composed of three separate month-long sessions. Each session will focus on one of the three disciplines of a triathlon and will have a benchmark for each club to reach. In December the focus is swimming, in January it is cycling and in February it is running. The first club to beat the benchmark will earn first prize for that session. If a club should reach all three benchmarks first they will win an extra prize.
Additional individual awards as well as club runner-up prizes will be allotted throughout the competition. The club awards vary with club mileage and discipline. Overall mileage will be awarded at the end of the competition for clubs with the most combined mileage from all three disciplines. Prizes and awards will be announced near the end of the NCC.
Clubs appoint one person to be the registrar and liaison to USAT. The club registrar will add its club members that have given their information to the club registrar for this competition. Only the club registrar may register club members on this site.
New requirement this year: All participating club members must also be members of USAT. Be sure to give your USAT membership number and expiration date to your club registrar.
If your club likes to train, likes to compete and is good at trash-talking, you will not want to miss out on the National Challenge Competition. Not only is it a great way to fuel your competitive fire through the dead cold of winter, but it is a chance to "race" against the rest of the country in the comfort of your own facilities.
Get your club signed up today. And remember, USAT has the cure for your winter training blues! For official rules and procedures, visit our website: triathlon.teamusa.org/content/index/2088.
