I know there is a whole slew of folks that are doing IMKY next year....and I know it is really early to ask but has anyone given any thought to what HIM you are going to do as a prep race?
The 2 early season races I see are Racing for recovery HIM in Michigan is 6/6 and Munice is July 11th. Are there others to consider?

I felt Steel head lined up well last year. I most likely will do this one next year.

I don't know if I can swing IM LOO but will probably do Steelhead also. I need another ride with Charlie to educate him on politics he didn't listen well enough on the way home from KY.
Not to early to ask anything the way these things fill up anymore.

This is kind of a IMKY 08 reunion as I will also be doing Steelhead. Also planning on hanging out in Chicago that night to enjoy my favorite city (next to C-town of course).
Eric, having done R4R as my only HIM prior to IMKY ('08) and IMWI ('06), I am not sure that it necessarily helped me other than it was very hot (which was helpful to know that I could race in that kind of weather). Since it is in June, the weather isn't always hot. Anyways the reason I am not certain whether it was all that helpful was that, my IM build phase doesn't begin until about 8-10 wks out. This usually puts R4R right at, or before, the time that I would begin to do my really long workouts i.e 4-5 hour rides, 1.5-2.5 hr runs. Therefore my body hasn't really been quite ready for racing at that distance. If you are already up to training long or just want to gain the confidence of completing a HIM, then R4R would probably be a good race. Just my .02. Another race you might want to consider is the Racine HIM by HFP. I think it's a week before Steelhead.
Personally I think Steelhead would be good for you. Plus you get to race with us. I already booked 2 rooms so you're welcome to stay with us. Kar-Ming

It's a bit of a drive, but the Musselman 1/2 in Geneva, NY is July 19.

They also just changed the swim course at Musselman so that it is deep water the whole swim. No more wading the last 200 yards.

Not sure how many of you have registered for your HIM prep race, but I'm thinking about doing the Cardinal Harbour Triathlon, just outside of Louisville. It is in mid-July, with a swim in the Ohio river and the bike includes parts of the IM bike course. Last year the water and air temp were hot...just what I want Here is the link: www.headfirstperformance.com/Int/Announcement.htm
