Please note that we will have a couple of CTC members who will be wearing the MyAthlete.biz tracking unit.
In addition to Eric Gibb (#1167) who was already signed up I meet with MyAthlete.biz in Louisville and requested a couple of extra units for CTC members.
Tim Ritt (# 1029) - He will be doing his second IM in two weeks
Alan Wong ( # 612) - He is making a return trip to tackle the Verona Loop once again.
Good Luck to all the CTC members and their families!

Hey,
My original GPS unit was not working properly, so if you want to track me on this site, use ma5/ma5 for the username/password. My GPS unit is #191.
Thanks! Alan

Did any one track using this service? what did you think? For those that wore it, how did you like it?

I checked a few times. I love the concept and have been wanting to see it for a long time. I found it lacked information. It gave location and speed, but it gave no relationship to the race. I would like to see the course super imposed and a clock time added to the site. It would be cool if the groups had a relationship, such as AG/division. The way it was set up, I abandoned the site within an hour. I look forward to the future of this type of technology and web content. Soon we will be able to watch races play out in this way. Sunday, the Eric/ Aussie, Vale/Walsh/Doren, and the Nathan/TR races all had my interests. It will be cool when we are able to real time watch these races on an IPhone.

George,
I have worn a myathlete.biz gps unit twice: once while training in Lake Placid, the other during the IM there. I never noticed I was wearing it. It didn't flop around at all and never swung around to my belly side. Carrying an 8 ounce water bottle is much more noticeable. I treated the unit like a race belt. Attached my race number and a small pack to it for the run.
Wearing the unit was helpful to my family so they knew when to expect me at certain points on the course. It allowed them to head back to the townhouse and chill until the tracking device indicated I would be passing soon.

The technology is ready, but yes Charlie, I think the service needs some work. I know my gps unit stopped functioning around 10 hours after the start of the race as did other units.
I wore it and was not bothered by it at all for this race. I think if I was racing a little harder (ie a sprint race) the size of the unit would have bothered me a bit.
I had people using it to track me and that was much better than what the race offered. People wanting to see me on the course could get an excellent idea of when I was approaching. They liked it.
I believe there was an option available for mobile phone users as well.
