Mark's G's post about the Durno diet causing a DNS had me wondering.
What is your worst pre-race meal and how bad did it effect you?
Mine; This was a few years ago. A buddy and I sat around the campfire and had a bottle of Red wine (each) and a cigar (each) and sometime around midnight decided it would be a good idea to get up and run the buckeye half marathon the next day. True to our word we made it, hung over and running about a minute per mile slower than normal.
What's your "Durno Diet" story?

I did the actual durno diet prior to the buzzard du (beer and wings). Place in the top 10 overall.

Paul - when I read the subject line, I was thinking "how the hell does he know my sister ??" Then I realized you were talking about diet. yuk yuk! ps: Regarding pre-race meals... this past weekend it was bratwurst, potato pancake, sourkraut (sp?), and only half of a beer. Felt good in the morning (a lot better than last week). pss: my worst ever was fish and rice the night before a race (bad advice from Triathlete magazine). I had to hit the port-a-can 4 times before the race and still felt weird... Glad it was a sprint 'cause I sprinted to the can again after the race.

this Saturday was my wife's class reunion, I put down 5 tall black and blues and as much deep fried cheese and chicken as I could shove in. the Sunday swim was interrupted by a couple of burp breaks and little puke but by mile 3-4 on the bike I started feeling good and did 1:25 on the 27 miler, by far above my average pace.

2 burgers and 10 beers before the Huntington tri a couple years ago. And I wonder why I'm fat.

I may be pretty well versed in the Durno method myself...is it bad to say I have several events here I can pick from? The most recent of which was pre-race fuel before Silver Srings Du this year.
I had my cousin's wedding the night before and in all fairness, her and her husband were my roommates for awhile and this wedding was a long time coming that deemed worthy of drunken celebration. So after the wedding, we hit the bar for a couple tall drafts before the reception. Countless beers were consumed there while busting a move on the dance floor and then it was off to Taco Bell for lots of Mexican Madness!
After a very short night's sleep, somehow I awoke the next morning and thought it was a good idea to drag my hungover butt out to the du. Sweating out alchool and burping Taco Bell the whole way (ewww!), I somehow survived and still nabbed a third place overall female! Warning....I did learn late night Taco Bell does not make for good pre-race fuel and have not touched it since!
