I am looking to train for my first triathlon. I began training last year in Feb. and I followed my training program for about six months...I was in great shape and felt great. However alot of unforseen events through me off the horse (Army schools etc.) and I never got back on. I've recently decided that I am going to race come hell or high water but at this time of year it seems most races will be over soon. So my question is..would it be prudent to train for an Olympic distance next fall starting now? I am naturally athletic and I seem to come around pretty fast. My swimming however is a work in progress, although I have made great strides. Being that I am getting started at this time of year, what kind of training program should I look for? Thanks..

As I was.....I meant to say.."Next spring" when the season starts... I will be out of country late spring so I want to try to race before I leave.....but I still think it would be enough time. I'm in decent shape now.

That's still 9 months to add to what you already have. I'm sure you'll be fine.
