Usually, I lead a flat tire changing practice and/or transition practice. Is there any interest in doing that again? Or, would you like to practice something else and get advice from at least one veteran (albeit not fast) triathlete?
Last year, the attendance at the flat changing practice was small for one and nonexistent for the other. I enjoyed meeting the folks who attended, but maybe I can offer something else that will draw more of a crowd. So, vote and let me know.
It will probably be on a Monday night or Saturday morning at least 2 weeks from now. The location will depend on what is chosen.
Thanks!

Okay, how about an open water swim, transition practice and flat tire changing practice at Fairport Harbor on Saturday, July 26 at 8 AM? We'll get a 30-minute swim in, then we can practice or at least talk about transition and finally, do the flat tire changing. I know the agenda is ambitious, but I don't see us being there longer than 1.5 hours and you are welcome to come to only part of it.
If you will be there, please RSVP here.

I plan to be there for the swim, with which I can definitely use help, but will probably not stay for the rest.
I'm still fairly new to the Cleveland area, but I found Fairport Harbor on Google maps. Any directions tips in addition to that?
Thanks for offering this!

I'm not quite sure of the road names, so hopefully, some far east sider can correct me if I'm wrong.
Take Rt. 2 east. Get off at the exit after Rt. 44 South. I believe it is the Fairport Harbor exit. Take a right onto the road after getting off the exit. Be sure to get in the left lane, so you will continue straight.
Keep going straight to Richmond Road (I think). Take a right onto Richmond Road. Follow it straight all the way till it dead ends at the beach (go down the hill and park in the parking lot at the beach). Call me at 440-391-1470 if you get lost.
There must be a way to Mapquest it easier. I am on dial-up now while at Lake Placid. I'll see if I can find something better when I get back tomorrow night.

Depending on which way you are coming.
Heading east on Rt. 2 -- head east on Rt. 2, get off at the 44 north/heisley rd exit. take a left off the exit and head all the way north till it dead ends in a loop. go around the loop and head to the left, into the parking lot.
Heading east on I-90 -- head east on I-90, get off at street 615 in mentor. Turn right off the exit, heading south (doesnt make sense but bare with me). 615 dead ends into chillicothe. Turn left, heading back north east on chillicothe, keep following this street, It changes into Heisley, and then follow the directions from above.
Hope this helps.

Chris, your directions are perfect for Headlands beach, but we are meeting at Fairport Harbor.
I looked on-line and my directions above are right except the right is on High Street, not Richmond Street.

well crap...i think getting up there that early with kid in tow is gonna be too much just for the tire change...(obviously can't swim with the kid!)...which is a bummer...cause i really ought to learn how to change a tire before ironman!...oh well!

Thanks to everyone who came out today! It was nice to meet you (Kim, Laura, Chris and Heather)! Good swim and hopefully, I was helpful in the tire changing area.
Erin, sorry you couldn't make it. It would have been nice to see you again!

It would have been nice to see you again! Jen, Thank you very much for setting up the swim and teaching us how to change a tire. I don't look forward to the day when I have to see if I can "pass the test" and really change my tire, but now I have an idea of what to do though. Thank you! Erin, If you ever want to car pool up to something like this at Lake Erie, let me know! Kim
