I am in.... don't ask me why I signed up for another half before I have even done my first one. Insanity.....
Joanne signed up as well.... she is attempting to qualify for Hawaii in the 50-54 AG.... I hope she does it.... with her current run speed I think she has a pretty good shot.
Should be fun....

FYI.....
I made a reservation at the host hotel for Friday and Saturday night "The Hyatt.. Something, somehting".. they said on the web site traffic could be bad getting to the race.. I told them at the hotel I was with the eagleman race and they gave me a discounted rate for both nights.. I belive its pretty close to the race start.. hopefully with in walking distance..

Rob, Being that you race a lot....what are your thoughts on training through the triple t and then racing eagleman 3 weeks later? I'd like to go again next year. Jacqui

The Hyatt is not within walking distance but driving to the race start is not a big deal...parking is tricky but there seem to be enough spots. I've camped at the HS for the past 2 years and would use that option again...not sure if Rob would agree.

Jacqui- Is the camping area within walking distance to the race start?

It's not. I think it's about a 3 mile drive. I parked on a street very close to the transition area. Camping is at a high school. The building is open 24 hours for use of the rest rooms. The womens shower heads are set up so that if you are taller than 5' you have to duck under them but if that doesn't bother you it's fine. There are probably about 60 or so tents there by saturday night and quite a few pop ups and rv's also.

Bunch of questions - ill try to answer a few.....
Host hotel and camping are definately not within walking distance
Camping - is fine as Jaquie related - not your typical camp ground however - you simply set up outside a high school on the front lawn
Driving AROUND the town that the race is held in is pretty easy
Parking at the race site - it will fill up very quickly on race morning as the lots are not all that large - if you have to park on the street (residential area) things get more tricky. As the morning progresses things will become more and more difficult. SOOOOO get there early and you should be fine - get there later and you could have some challenges
Driving into and PARTICULARLY leaving - is HORRIBLE - you will be encountering MD shore traffic - anyone who has battled Jersey or MD beach traffic knows what I mean - coming home we sat for a few hourse in bumper to bumper traffic (trying to go like 50 miles) - this had nothing at all to do with the race but rather people heading home from a weekend at the beach. My BIGGEST suggestion is to spend SUNDAY night at the race and come home Monday morning.
Jaquie - I dont know exactly the dates of TT to Eagleman - but if you have 3 solid weeks inbetween I think you could use TTT as your last big training weekend. TTT will take a ton out of you regardless of if you RACE it or use it for TRAINING - I think the key issue is if you race you will do a lot more damage to your body (and I would assume take some sort of taper in TTT) - that would put you in a pretty good sized hole to come back and go for Eagleman as your A race. If you just train at TTT I thnk the recovery of the three week-ish tape into Eagleman would be a great build up. Of course a lot also depends onthe type of training you are doing before TTT
hope some if this helps

This year I went back to the campsite and hung out until almost 6pm. Driving home at this time was fine. As Rob said, I would definetly not plan on leaving shortly after the race. Rob, thanks for the advice. I'd definetly be looking at TTT as training. Trying to slowly build up to that IM mindset...it's only taken me about 13 years to consider it!
