I watched "No Country for Old Men" this weekend. Not really scary in the horror movie sense. But if you really want to leave a movie with a disturbed feeling in your gut, check it out.

The Ring really scared me. Great flick. I love scary movies. The original Last House on the Left is pretty good as well.

A friend of mine said the exact same thing to me a few days ago As far as scary movies for me, these two still scare the SH$T out of me The Shining Burnt Offerings - the hearse driver.....boy, that still gives me the creeps.

i love scary movies. not so much the blood and gore ones, but thriller types. two of my favorite are the shining and the secrete window. i have probably seen the shining like a zillion times and still have to sleep with the lights on.

The blood and guts horror movies have never really scared me. The "scariest" movies for me are the ones that freak me out.
The Sixth Sense (the ending of that movie may just be the best in history in terms of being unexpected) and Silence of the Lambs come to mind immediately.

Tim, I totally agree about The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Even more disturbing is that it is based on a true story.
House of 1000 Corpses is another one that freaks me out....or maybe its just scary because Rob Zombie's name is attached to it.

Stepford Wives -- the original, not the remake. (My husband pre-screened Rosemary's Baby and said it would be too scary for me, but he didn't bother to tell me the original Stepford Wives was similar...)

In the disturbing category I would add Mystic River and Blue Velvet.

Seven is one of those disturbing movies that compeltey messed with my head. How can someone be sick enough to come up with that stuff.

In terms of horror/thriller types, Aliens (special edition) takes the cake for me. I find the gore fests of the late 90s/00s to be stupid.

Check out Audition, a 1999 Japanese horror film directed by Takashi Miike, it's not jump out at you scary or super gory, just plain disturbing. Awesome!!!
