This "notice" came to our club email address. Thought I would post...
Letter to Athletes:
Many of you are making plans or have already made plans for a late spring or early summer training visit to the Adirondack Region. We are looking forward to a fun and exciting race season and to your visit with us. As you prepare for your training outings in our area please keep a few important guidelines in mind:
• Please ride single file along all roadways. Riding several abreast is not only dangerous, it is illegal. The formation of packs that block vehicular traffic is also illegal. The #1 complaint from local residents about athletes is the packs of riders that interfere with the flow of traffic. Don’t forget — some of these people are your race day volunteers!
• Know that local & state police have been notified to issue citations for cyclists who violate traffic regulations. Please heed their advice and follow the law.
• Numerous bike loops exist throughout the region that feature a variety of terrain. Why not avoid the crowds and traffic of the main roads and seek alternative routes? You can find additional routes by following the link: www.lakeplacid.com/flash/whattodo/z-outdoors.htm
• What about those water bottles and discarded gel wrappers? Please do not litter…. we love the natural beauty of the Adirondacks and these “extras” do not fit with the décor.
• Also know that training groups are not permitted to set-up their own aid stations, at random, along or in the middle of our roads. This interferes with (see #1 complaint).
• Please make suitable bathroom arrangements. Our local residents object to athletes using their private property as a relief facility. Please respect their requests.
• Do not paint or chalk up roads or existing signage. This is considered vandalism.
Obey the rules of the road, behave appropriately, respect private property, and we, residents and visiting friends alike, will all be able to enjoy an exciting and fun season!
Sincerely,
