Now that is is official... I wanted to let people know that I got a faculty position at Kent State starting in the fall in the dept. of exercise physiology. After 7 years of post-graduate fellowships, I am pretty excited. I am planning on doing some research on the effects of exercise on aging so I will be looking to the club for some volunteers--- more on that later. I will still be living in lakewood. In the meantime, I am taking a little time off work to train and get some things done. Who's available to ride during the day? ? ANGIE

I am curious about this study on aging.
What does it involve?
I know you said more later.
Can you share a little more now?
I would volunteer.

I cannot give the details of my studies yet... they are still in development. I am interested how the nervous system reacts to exercise and the effects of exercise on cognition.
My latest research involved exercise and parkinson's disease.... I will be continuing these studies when I get to kent but want to do some "healthy adult" studies as well to compare to the parkinson's work.
Stay tuned. ANGIE

Somewhat unrelated, but a co-worked of mine did research on the effects of the pulminary (sp?) system of Ironman participant - pretty interesting findings. If you have any interest in it, I'm sure I can get a copy of his report...

Mark,
I'd be interested in that study of the pulmonary changes in the Ironman athlete.

Congrats Angie! Enjoy your time off- live the life of a pro triathlete! However, from my experience that means eating a lot of plain white rice and squatting at friend's places... Maybe the life of a top age grouper is better...

Haha
No, not me. I have a couple friends who are pros and we stayed together at camp for a couple weeks. So I lived the life shortly.

Congratulations Angie on the new position. Your study sounds interesting. Seems to me the people who don't let age limit their activities defy the aging process that ravages those who decide they are too "old" to do certain things.

Angie, I'm going to have some kid free time on Friday this week and was thinking of riding instead of doing the laundry etc. Let me know if you're free....I'd be up for heading to the west side as I need to work on riding on some flatter terrain. Jacqui
