In preparation for the XTERRA ONE triathlon at West Branch State Park in Ravenna I will be leading a training ride on Thursday evenings from the trailhead. We will meet at the trailhead around 5:30 and plan on riding approx. 1-1/2 hours. As soon as the trails open and dry out I will do a post here when I will be starting (late April, early May)
Anyone that would like to carpool is welcome to hitch a ride with me. If you have any questions feel free to post here or e-mail me at trimtb@yahoo.com

Oooo! mtb rides!
I'll have to try and make some of those. I spend entirely too much time on the roadie these days.....forgotten my roots!

I'll probably join in for a few as well, but not 'til June... I'm planning to do that race.

It doesn't look like they will open the mtb. trails at West Branch this week so maybe next week? I will keep you all informed.
As far as the bike course map it might change slightly if they (CAMBA) open the newly built single-track.

I won't make it out next week, but I am there after that! Are you planning on doing the Xterra course for the group ride? Yes Jess, we will be doing the group ride on the XTERRA course. And I know you of all people can't wait to get out there. A couple of weeks and you'll be waving goodbye to KSU!! CONGRATULATIONS!!

according to the camba website it will open may 15th, and thanks to all the volunteers who were out opening the trails. the mtb trail in the cuyahoga park close to the towpath will also open on the 15th as long as the trail building happens on the 7th. if anyone want to meet up there for a ride, I ride past it almost everyday on my commute to work and can't wait to take the detour. its a short course but fun and closer.
Alan carpooling sounds great

West Branch is open as of Tuesday. Just be aware of recent rainfall and avoid the trails if it's likely to be muddy.

We will commence the Thursday evening training rides at West Branch State Park next Thursday May 15th at 5:30/6:00. With the predicted rain this Wednesday & Thursday plus organizing a graduation party for this Saturday I think it's best I wait until next week. Tip for the swim exit: have a pair of old running shoes ready to slip on your feet to run up to the transition area since the pavement is rough & broken up. Again the rain will put our Thursday night group ride on hold until the trails dry out. Here's some interesting comments on the current wet conditions: joinomba.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8936That's one of the problems this time of year, everyone is itching to get out on the trails but it causes a tremendous amount of damage to the trails. Maybe next week

Just want to say everyone (8 of us) did a great job out on the trails. It looked like everyone was beat but still had energy for a smile at the end of the ride. Janet & Joe way to break in those new bikes! Be consistent on going out to West Branch and you'll see a huge improvement in your technical skills. All in all everyone did a great job! Brian, good luck in Brighton, Michigan at the Xterra Torn Shirt Tri. I'm missing it already! See everyone next week (weather permitting) and I'll also bring a huge Xterra banner so anyone new to the group can easily spot us. BTW does CTC have a banner?

Oh by the way, CTC does have a banner but it may just be easier to simply direct interested people to the Xterra banner that you have already.

The forcast isn't looking very promising for our Thursday evening rides. More rain this evening and possible tomorrow too. I won't officially cancel our ride until about 4:00pm on Thursday so keep an eye out on the message board. Riding on wet/muddy trails does a tremendous amount of damage and many man hours to repair.

I'll be heading out to West Branch @ 2:00pm to check out the trail conditions. Good or bad I'll call it in and have someone post here if we're having the ride or not. While I'm out there I will head over to the beach and go for a swim should anyone be able to join me that early.

There will be NO Xterra Group Ride tonight at West Branch. Cancelled due to large amounts of raining falling from the sky and soaking the trail. Alan just called me with an on-location report. I had made a previous post that the ride was on, but mother nature has a way of changing things
