No way! No way! No way would I ever do something that crazy.
BUT - this past weekend I did wrestle a gator at shark valley in the everglades. I was riding my bike and had to go off-road to avoid another cyclist and ended up in the swamp. As I unclipped from the pedals and starting walking back up to the road, this 9 foot gator grabbed my back tire. Well, I was not about to let some gator steal my beach cruiser, so I dove on top of him and managed to pry open his gaping jaws and free my bike. I thought about killing the gator with my bare hands and turning him into a nice pair of boots. But then I decided that peace with the gator clan was a better solution. So I let him live.

I know you'll think I'm full of nuts - but we used to surf 15-20 foot winter swells off a reef in Sydney every year - BIG SCARY ASS waves - they broke steeper but not as quickly as the wave in that sequence which was about 25 ft
It was Newport Reef in Sydney - it would break like that maybe half a dozen times per year - it was a LONG paddle out and sharks actually patrolled the reef. If you caught three waves you were done because the 45 minutes of paddling to get back out after each wave was exhausting
Paddling into the face of one of those as it is breaking - and attempting to duck dive in front of it and then hanging on for 20 seconds of sheer underwater terror is quite an experience in itself - but to pop up and be faced with a line up of four more monsters makes for a F(*K this feeling - but yo ucan't stop or you WILL DROWN

Should have come down to Cronulla and surfed shark island mate. Only a 100m paddle out.

BIG SCARY ASS waves - they broke steeper but not as quickly as the wave in that sequence which was about 25 feet Try 60 feet! Those monsters are so big and fast that it is impossible to catch via the standard paddle in method....hence the tow in. If one of those breaks on you it is like a house falling on you! Good read, Andrew, about your Aussie surf days

That video brings back great memories of when I use to live in San Diego. One day I was on a body board off the coast in Carlsbad. Huge sets where comming in. I paddled out as fast as I could to catch a monster wave, when all of a sudden a punk surfer came real close to running over me. ( true story by the way )
I was extremely pissed off at this dude. So when I went pack out , he said to me..." the next time you take one of my waves I will ride over you. So I am like hey.... Get off the crystal meth and look around.... There are f'ing waves every where. So by the time we both came out of our next break. We were standing in knee deep water and started to exhange blows and rolling around in the shallow water. I still have a piece of that dudes surf board that I broke over his head. And to this day, I have never gone back into the surf with a Body Board.

Its great to have that sense of adventure, yet one who is willing to risk ones life every time they do something insane....... www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6Y6V4yfhdUExcept those guys wearing those wing suits flying down the side the mountain before the decide to pull the chute. I think they may be the craziest...
