I will be the aid station captain for the Big Bend Aid Station on the Burning River 100 Mile course August 4th-5th.
Big Bend will be open from 5:45 PM on August 4th to 8:45 AM August 5th. I will be there all night and Amie's boyfriend who lives right here on the course has kindly offered us use of his house so if you want to work a few hours then nap then work a few more that option is available.
There needs to be at least 4 volunteers at the station at all time so taking this in shifts is looking like the master plan.
If you are interested in volunteering please let me know.

Where is this aid station located? I've got a shower thingy going on the afternoon of the 5th, but I would like to help for a bit on Saturday evening!

Big Bend is at mile 91 of the course and it is next to the towpath in Akron. South of Akron-Peninsula Rd I believe. I will ask Tanya for specific instructions on how to get to the station. A description of the course is here: www.burningriver100.org/pages/course.html

Hey--I think I'm going to help out at Station Road instead of Big Bend--it's more like the morning of the 4th so it fits into my schedule a little better and is a little closer to home. Thanks though, and hopefully everyone who is around can help out and volunteer in some way to make this an awesome event!

No Brooks I haven't completely gone of the deep end (yet)
I am just volunteering at Big Bend all night. If I get enough volunteers I may pace a few people during the night if they look like they could use it but I am signed up to be in charge of the Big Bend aid station.

Just a reminder about volunteering for the Burning River 100 Mile race.
I am heading up a station from 5:45 PM to 8:45 AM at Merriman Rd (Near Big Bend). I am still in need of more volunteers!
This is a great way to get out and support the running community. Please let me know by this Thursday (July 5th) if you are interested in helping out at the aid station. I need to get shirt sizes for my volunteers to the race committee by the end of the week.
Specifically I need at least one more person from 5:45 PM to 9:45 PM (August 4th), One person from 9:45 PM to 1:15 AM (August 4th-5th), three people from 1:15 AM to 4:45 AM (August 5th), and two people from 4:45 to 8:45 AM.
I will also need some supplies for this so if you can't donate your time but might have supplies needed by volunteers on race day contact me. (Specifically we need tents, tarps, and 5 gallon jugs)

Volunteers are trickling in! Thanks so much guys!
The only time slot I am worried about now is 4:45 to 8:45. So far it's just Lou and I manning the fort. I think I can sucker my parents into coming down and helping but if any of you early birds are looking for a great way to help out the running community and see the amazing ultra runners who will be finishing 100 miles in 26 to 30 hours at mile 91 of their journey let me know!

Liz, count me in for the 4:45 to 8:45 slot. I'm volunteering at Angela's aid station on Saturday morning, but can help out on Sunday with you as well. I'll probably need directions.

Thanks so much for the huge response everyone! I know working an aid station in the wee hours of the morning is probably not tops on everyone's to do list I am still in need of one volunteer from 9:45 PM to 1:15 AM. Whoever jumps in gets to hang out with three hot athletic chicks! Jen I am assuming Angela ordered a t-shirt for you?

Who knows, but I already have a ton of t-shirts, so I'm not worried about it unless I have to wear a special t-shirt to help out.
