This was my first race ever 4+ years ago. It is a fantastic race for newbies. The swim is not at all intimidating and the bike/run courses are not overly challenging. I highly recommend it.

Would you recommend this one over the Lighthouse Tri which is the same day? I also heard from several people that the Lighthouse is a great newbie one, but the Tin Man is much close to my house.
Was the bike and run hilly on the Tinman course?

I've never done the lighthouse, so, I can't comment. The Tinman had some mild hills. When I did it, they seemed big at the time, but now, after 4 years and thousands of miles of training, they're a few small rollers at best !

Do they do the swim in small waves? The lake is so small, how is everyone not swimming on top of each other? I would love to do this one since its so close, but would love more info on the swim.
How many people do they limit the registration to?

There will be no limit on registration 'cause there will likely be less than 100 folks doing this... and yes, they will go out in small waves (based on past experience). You should do this.

I had been planning on participating in the Lighthouse Tri, but now that I found out about this Tin Man Tri (which is closer to my home, too) I'm not sure which to try out. ?? Has anyone tried the Lighthouse Tri? If so, how does it compare? thanks!
