Hey all, I apologize for the short notice. I have been concentrating so hard on getting through Ironman that I forgot to set up my annual transition practice. Given what occurred during my Ironman, I think practicing changing a flat would also be a great idea! There will be two opportunities for this session. - The first will be at 7:00 PM at N. Chagrin's Strawberry picnic area on Wednesday, August 1. Those who want to run at 6:30 PM can do so and then come back for the practice (I'm still not permitted to run yet).
- The second will be at 6:30 PM at Edgewater Park (lower bowl near the pavilion) on Monday, August 6. There will be no specific workout before this session.
I will bring a transition rack. Please bring everything you want to use in T1 and T2 including but not limited to: bike, bike helmet, bike shoes, race belt, running shoes, socks, etc. Also, bring your tire changing levers, spare tube, etc. If you would like to attend or have any questions, please post here or send me an e-mail at ctcnewbies at yahoo dot com.

Hey Mike, That's great! Which one?
To all others, you don't have to be a newbie to attend. If you want to practice before the downtown triathlon or GCT, come on out to one or both session. Thanks!

Just a quick reminder of the first of the two Newbies sessions to be held tomorrow night at N. Chagrin Strawberry Picnic Area at 7 PM. The run will still happen at 6:30 PM although I will not be running (still not cleared to run yet). Hope to see you tomorrow night!

Jen -- It was great to meet you. The flat training was just what I needed -- thank you for hosting this clinic. The tips for T1 and T2 and dealing with plantar fasciitis were also much appreciated. Also, it was great to meet everyone there! Morena

Thanks Jen for the "changing a flat tire" training. After reading some of the recent post with people having flat tire issues, I was getting a little nervous with the GCT coming up. I feel much more comfortable now.

Will you be doing any more transition practice/training sessions this year? I could not get to the last one. I had a softball game right after and hit major traffic on the way. I am doing first Tri at Findlay Lake Sept. 8. If so when? If not do people actually " practice" transitions? could you share some thoughts on making it faster?

Mike, If you check on the CTC Homepage, there is a section called "Transition Hints" in the list on the left column of the page. I would offer my advice.... but my transitions aren't that great. Maybe I should re-read those too!

this might sound like a dumb question but are you allowed to have a small stool to sit on to put on socks and shoe or do you just put them on standing up?

I just wanted to say THANK YOU for this training. I had my first flat over the long weekend since I started training last fall. Thankfully it was at the end of my 30mile ride!! While I was bummed at first I knew it would be OK because I knew what to do. I successfully changed my first tire and am pretty impressed I got everything back together the right way. ;D
If you don't know how to change a tire this is totally worth it!
Thanks Jen!!!
