I will be leading a tube changing practice session on Monday, May 14 at 6:30 PM at Edgewater Park (let's meet near the picnic shelter on the lower area by the beach).
Please bring at least a wheel (whole bike is fine too), tire changing tools and spare tubes. I have a pump, but if you want to practice with yours, bring it too. Also, if you want to practice with your C02 cartridge or hand-pump to simulate flatting out on the road, bring it as well.
This is a newbies session, but experienced triathletes are welcome to come out and practice too.
After practice, we'll have a Q&A session to discuss any questions that are nagging at you before you start your first triathlon season.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Jen

Anyone out there willing to come to the practice and teach us how to change a tubular? I'm racing with Nimble Crosswind tubulars and racing them at Cali just about gave me an ulcer since I don't know how to change them. Jodi

Jodi
I would be happy to show you or anyone interested - in how to remove, mount and inflate a tubular.
Also - helpful ways to carry spare tubulars and pre-race preps for tubular spares.

That would be awesome, Andrew!
On a related note...
Does anyone have a spare 650 rim lying around that they have no use for? I could stand to pre-stretch my spare...

eBay is a great place to find a pair

Thanks to Delia (sp?) and John for attending last night's tube changing practice. I hope you found it to be valuable. It was nice meeting you both!
So, this was not one of my more popular newbies sessions. If you are a new triathlete, is this something you already know how to do? If not, is there a better time or location to have it? I'm pretty limited in available days, but can try a different location. I need the practice, so I may host another one of these in the next month if there is any interest. If not, I can practice at home. No biggie. Just let me know though if you'd like to attend and I'll set it up for some Monday night soon.
Thanks!
Jen

Hi Jen,
I probably would have come, but my evenings are tied up until early June...can't really make any group events until then. I thought tube changing was a good idea - always good to get tips from folks who are more proficient, especially to gain confidence entering a new season (or for me, my first ever). See you all soon!
