Did all the newbies dissappear? Nobody has anything to post?

I am a newbie and surf the forums everyday trying to learn... It seems that for me there is not very much activity in the newbies section or training sessions close to where I am at. Hopefully once fall come in it will start up.

Tim, you're alive! Glad to have you back.
Derek, I'm sorry we haven't had any newbies sessions lately. I've been out of town and many of my committee members are racing still (Sara just did IM Moo). I'll see what we can put together soon.

Derek... at the end of the season things start to wind down. Everyone is pretty emotionally and physically beat... and want to do things other than triathlon for a little while. Look for some late fall/winter club activities and clinics. After the holidays.. things will pick up again. Furthermore, most of the 2006 newbies are NO LONGER newbies. Looking for new recruits for 2007. ;D Hang in there. ANGIE

No worries, it would just be nice to train with someone.

I'd love to do some newbie training, especially since all the bike groups are doing 60+ miles and probably at some ridiculous pace. I'm in Garfield Hts/Independence area and up for a ride or run anytime!

Hi!
Now that I'm done with IM MOO (yahoooooooo) I have lots of time to hang with newbies--I would love to do shorter rides and runs this fall! I'm on the west side, but I can travel. I'm looking forward to recovering and hopefully passing on the tri bug to some newbie triathletes!

Likewise, I am up for rides or runs and even swims for a little while longer (at Portage Lakes).
If anyone is in the Canton area, please join me for:
a masters swim class at the N. Canton Y- T and/or TH at 9:30 am
a bike ride (usually 20-30 miles) on T, W, or TH at 9:30 am
a run on Thur. pm (tempo or track at Kent, Stark campus) or Sunday am or pm (long run)
I improvise on the other days but always look forward to company. If anyone lives out this way, please join me! It's always more fun with company.

Not only will a lot of people still be training right through into December (outdoors) and beyond (indoors and outdoors) but a lot of the pace will be more relaxed and distances shorter - as this is a base building time and most folks have completed their race season.
IMFL on Nov 4 is one of the last races of the season involving CTC members that I know of.
In addition to the base building training sessions - keep an eye out for some fantastic training opportunities such as the upcoming FALL Duathlon Series and our winter indoor triathlon series.
New Vision Cycling have their weekly sessions and these are phenomenal for anyone looking to get stronger or build more confidence on the bike!!
Rob Reddy will no doubt run the Virtual tri camp again this winter - so watch out for that one!!
So although things are slowing down - we are just getting ready to switch gears again - don;t worry - there are still quite a lot of us out there training - and believe me - if you have an opportunity to swim in the Lake - do it now - because it is going to be a long winter of pool swimming.

PLEASE come to the Fall Picnic (see the home page for details)! There will be some sort of training activity in the morning and all distances and paces are welcome! But you do not have to join the training session to come and pig out at the picnic

Rob Reddy will no doubt run the Virtual tri camp again this winter - so watch out for that one!! Excellent! VTC is great! However, this winter I'll have pretty dismal swim/run mileage because I'm planning to do my first half-marathon in the spring. I just need to get up the nerve to fill out that entry form and press "submit."

PRESS SUBMIT - this will confirm your desire to yourself and set a date in concrete for the 1/2 marathon.
Also, this portion of the board is sure to get busy now that the tri-season is over or winding down for most of us. I know, for myself I plan on running every Sunday morning at the Cleveland Zoo for anywhere from 1-2.5hrs. So, this run will suite you well Sara or anyone else who is planning an early season 1/2 or full marathon.

PRESS SUBMIT - this will confirm your desire to yourself and set a date in concrete for the 1/2 marathon. I pressed "SUBMIT"! I was ready to do it yesterday, but I didn't have my Champion Chip number handy. Now, I'm starting to get that "What on earth have I done?" feeling. At least I didn't do something completely insane like signing up for the full marathon...
