I saw a post that mentioned putting Rolaids in your special needs bag and wondered what others put in their bags. So, what are everyones standard items? or something that you're glad you put in?

for the bike: I put in a two bottles of Infinti.. endurolites.. clif bar and a few gu.. But this year I am adding a Red Bull and sport beans instead of all that gu, and someone just told me to use rolaids but not sure why? I would be intersted in finding out why rolaids....
I usually throw some other stuff in there, some munchies and never really use it.. I might add some pretzels this year to the bag also... something to munch on while riding that last 56....
For the run... a long sleeve shirt, a pair of socks, more enurolites and some more gu/sport beans... and some band aids for blisters...
This is a good post....

Not much:
Bike - 2 or 3 power gels; a few enduralytes; some pretzels; one spare tube; one spare CO2 cartridge.
Run - 2 or 3 power gels; a few enduralytes; some pretzels; one long sleeve t-shirt.
Hopefully I'll get some good ideas on what else I should be adding as the above seem kind of boring.

I didn't use one. I stuck with what was offered on the course. This year, I will most likely add something to eat that doesn't start with the word "Power" or "Gator". maybe a salt bagel during the bike and some fruit.
During the run I had wished I could brush my teeth of the gel. I still have to sort this idea out. I know the constant sugar diet worked well for my body, but my mouth was so sick of it.

I literally had a little bit of everything. I can't remember who told me to throw both salty and sweet things in my bike bag, but I'm so glad I did. They told me you won't really know what will sound good out there, and it's better to have a wide variety. I had some Clif Bars, Hammer Gel, endurolytes, clif bloks, fig newtons, and then some really random stuff like gummi life savers and combos. Yes, combos. As in the pretzel things with processed cheese in them. Turned out they sounded good around mile 80. I also had a few extra CO2s and tube. For the run I had a long sleeved tech tee and some more random snacks. I ended up holding the tech tee while I ran in a garbage bag and wondered why I even grabbed it! (This was IMW in 2006) In both bags I threw in some lip smacker, a small thing of body glide, and a few cards my students had made in there. Sounds pretty cheesy but it made me smile when I saw them.

Yeah, just don't forget a cigarette lighter. It's really hard to find a light on Mirror Lake drive.

I have a very special need for IMFL this year - to significantly reduce my run time and not cruise the bike to save my legs for the run.
So...........
I plan on finding a very flexible pale skinned, overweight, funny talking kenyan runner to somehow squeeze into my SN run bag to finish my marathon strongly for me
Ipod rules and drafting rules never get enforced so I think I'm safe with this one
