Don't know if anyone was waiting for Little Smokies HIM registration to open up, but in case you were. Was informed by HFP Racing that it is no longer a stand alone race and is only available as part of the TTT.

I was going to do the Little Smokies and have started to look for something else. Since I have not found an early season HIM that fits into my schedule the way I like, I'm leaning towards the TOSRV as a leisurely replacement. www.tosrv.org/08/index.htm

It looks like HFP made a few changes this year to there schedule, maybe because of the merger, maybe not... but the Great Buckeye Challenge is no longer at Caesar Creek State park, it has been moved to Buck Creek.. They got rid of the Buck Creek tri all together that was held in August, replaced it with the Great Buckeye Challenge and they added the Vermillion Harbor Tri...
The Triple-T sold on in three weeks they say... I am in for this year again, thats too bad they got rid of the little smokies race, I do not think last year there was many people for the little smokies race on Sunday, which maybe is why they up the particapants for the Triple-T this year from 250 to 300.

As if the Sunday race weren't "interesting" enough. Not sure if I'm that much of a glutton for punishment so early in the season.

Sounds like there may still be some open spots for TTT. E-mail HFP Racing if interested.
Think I'll pass on the whole weekend thing.

I was planning on the LIttle Smokies as an early season HIM before IMLP. Seemed to fit in good schedule wise, but I'm sure I'd be up for the whole weekend either (I've heard it's as hard/harder than an IM)
Any suggestions for other early season HIM's ?? The only one around the same time I remember being down in North Carolina.

Chris, come on now and tell the truth. If you had planned on doing Little Smokies, would you really change to the TTT. Somewhere in this forum I thought you described the run portion of Smokies as running or climbing out of hell. And I described the run portion of the TTT as crawling out of hell.
For me in 2007, the TTT was the most difficult and challenging race. Ironman Lake Placid was second and Ironman Florida was the least difficult of the three.

Ryan,
A lot of people last year that did the Triple-T used it as a extended or training weekend for both IMCDA and IMLP..

Ryan, there is a super flat half-Ironman on June 8 in Monroe Michigan (about 2-3 hour drive from here). It is what I used to prep for IMLP. As my husband pointed out, I just needed a long, hard day to be consistent. I was already training the hills in prep for LP. Of course, getting a new half-IM PR didn't hurt. The bike course is very bumpy and boring though. www.racingforrecoveryhalf.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=13&Itemid=31

I have also done the Racing for Recovery Half - when it was still located in Ohio. As Jen pointed out, it (whether in Ohio or Michigan) is an extremely flat course. And by flat, I mean pancake flat. I agree with Jen that it would be a good long workout - but it would not break you down.

Nathan, The TTT is not anywhere in my future, even Little Smokies was a question about registration not sure I even wanted to do that again. Was merely letting other know if they love pain they may still be able to enjoy it.
