There will be a second IM in Arizona next year.
NAS just announced the switching from the spring to the fall.
Sign ups are on Monday.
Ummm, I wonder.

I saw this a few weeks ago, but it was not really confirmed at the time...
It would be sweet to do the last one they will hold in the spring and also do the fall one... Thanksgiving in Tempe might be nice for 2008... Have to check the pocket book for this one....
November Ironman races make for such a long season... But YA!!!! gotta luv that.... Plus... its like a week away from any yard work.... NO LEAVES for a week... SWEET......
More Pros then Cons for this race.... The more I think about it....

I was wondering and contacted NASports about sign ups for 2009 IMAZ in Nov., since there will be no race to sign up for after the 2008 April IMAZ. I am hoping that the people who race in April will be giving a chance to sign up for the Nov. 2009 race before the Nov. race takes place...
It would be so nice to race that bike course out there with no WIND.....

So..... NASports said for all thoughs racing in April 2008 at IMAZ, that we can sign up for the Nov. 2009 race at the conclusion of the 2008 race in April....

At the conclusion of the 08 race, or the day before (per NA Sports new sign up policy for incumbents)?
Is the April sign up opportunity only for those who race, or is it general registration for anyone who wants to get in to the '09 race? Because if so, even taking into account that Arizona is one of the races that takes a while to sell out, you're still looking at having to sign up for the '09 race 18 months - or two full seasons - in advance. As an athlete, that would really stink.
Just curious.

Matt,
I saw the new policy last night in Triathlete mag. it looks like a good system for some, atleast thoughs who are racing that specific race in 08....
As for the AZ, 09 race, NASports response back to me was breif, and my question to them only asked about those racing the April 08 race, so I assume its just for the people already signed up for spring 08 race.... and not general registration after the 08 spring race, that would take place after the 08 fall race....
But the 09 race even though sign up would be like you said 1-1/2 years early, it works into my schedule perfect....
And for the new sign-up policy would you think it makes signing up for different IM races harder now?... I would think more people would be locked into one race, in fear of not being able to get into another race? I think people who are signed up in an 08 race are very fortunate and the new policy takes away the stress of future sign-ups, if they chose to do the same race...

I don't think the new day-before-the race option is a bad one, at least in relation to the system as a whole, which is kind of whacked.
But who am I to talk, you know?
