i have no idea as i did not run a computer at all - but the decent at Keene was fun - and I will admit I was ridding with one other guy down that stretch and we were sling shotting off one another for the entire down hill.
but truth be told - the keene decent was NOT the scarest or fastest I have ever run. the down hills at IMC off Ricters Pass and Yellow lake are much more scary and faster. Ricters runs about 8 miles and for most of it is a straight drop - i hit 52 mph there and then Yellow Lake is even steeper but shorter probably 5 miles with a couple turns - Yellow Lake is where i thought i was going to die - i saw 53 on the computer and had to stop looking as I did not want to take my eyes off the road for even a second - I rode the break (never did that down Keene) and was screaming LEFT as loud as possible for a good 3 miles.
so my guess is i hit high 40s maybe cracked 50 at keene - this is a great descent you can really let things fly

Computer says 45, I didn't get passed by many but there were a few. Guess I need to put on some weight.

I hit 48.7mph on the first lap. I have some front wheel issues when I hit over 45mph. So when the wind picked up on the second loop, I decided it was better to take it easy then to go down.
I was talking to a guy who was staying at the same hotel, that decided that he needed to open up a Nutri-Grain bar during the decent.
Results = Crash-Broken coller bone and nasty road rashes. He got up Monday morning, and signed up for 08.

Don't mean to hijcak, but this is an interesting topic for a newbie...speed. I got to 43 mph on the first hill east of Bennett Rd. on Valley Parkway in North Royalton. I wasn't peddling (just holding on and trying to stay calm). I think I could've gone faster but this was about my third ride on my new bike. If the elevation is correct it drops 300 ft (1170-870) in about 1 mile. www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-states/oh/brunswick/576430616For those of you familiar, is this a legitimate "hill" in this area or are there tougher climbs? I looked at some of the elevations of climbs out of the valley and it looks like many aren't this steep. BTW, what a great feeling blowing the doors off of vehicles and seeing them fade in my mirror. But I always have my bottom speed of 7mph going up that same hill to humble me.

When I made the turn at Keene on the first lap I checked my max speed and it said 63. I was quite stoked until I did the same thing on the second lap and it said 77. So my speed-o decided to fritz on me on race day. I don't think I topped 50. I've gone faster on roads around here.

That one is short but hard because it's so steep. There are many in the valley that are much longer.

I hit 47 on the first lap, but didn't touch the pedals. Once the winds picked up on the second lap, I don't think I got above a 42 or 43. After reading the earlier posts, I was pumped to hit 50 for the first time. Maybe I should have worked on the downhill to hit it.

I wish I had a bike computer (see my race report), but I know I rode it as fast as this small body would allow. Being way at the BOP allowed for smooth traffic-free sailing down the descent in the aero bars the whole way!

I saw 49.5mph on the computer - the downloaded data put me at 52.5mph top speed......I was tucked tight and in the aerobars - I didn't pedal on any of the steeper sections.

I hit 55 on the downhill into the great town of keene. Of course when i was doing this, I was in the most aero position possible. I had my head touching my knees and my eyes on the ground below me. A lot of people where mad that I was flying past them, but I was just having fun... Oh and for those who where wondering. I did have hands on the bars while I was doing this.

I hit all of 39 mph (per the garmin 205). Anyone that rides with me knows that I break all the way down. What can I say - I am an extremely cautious sob that is never in that big of a hurry. When I start to think that I might like to go faster, I replay the Joseba Belocki / Lance Armstrong crash that took Belocki out of the Tour and pretty much ended his career (he was going to fast).
So I don't go fast at all!!
