All, thanks so much for clicking to read. My hope is that someone/many might be able to share their opinions on my dilemma - to upgrade my wheels or not. Being new to tris, I'm not quite ready to commit to a tri specific bike. What I have now is a Trek Madone with stock bontrager race wheels. Should I upgrade the wheels? If so, what can I expect from this investment? And last, are wheel sets "spend big or not at all"? The only thing I would hate more than spending big money is spending half the amount only to replace them in a season or two.
About me: mid-high end recreational ride avg ride = 40+ miles have the money but not made of money plan to one day invest in a tri bike
Considerations (with no real knowledge): Zipp 303 Reynolds Assault SLG
I am absolutely open to recommendations. I'm willing to spend the big money but would prefer not to if there exists lesser priced alternatives. Has anyone tried the Karbon Speed wheels?
Thank you very much in advance for your wisdom!
