I am considering one of the "cleveland triathlons" this weekend. Has anyone done both races who can share their recommendation? Is there a general consensus in the local tri community?
If Rob's SWIKE is happening, I might go for that instead (better prep for the REV3 half...)

Greater Cleveland you won't be swimming in garbage, dead fish, oily, metallicy water that you will be tasting for weeks.

Cleveland Tri Club has been an unabashed supporter of Greater Cleveland Tri since the race started several years ago. The race director, Mickey Ryzmek, a Clevelander. has been an unabashed supporter of the Cleveland Tri Club since it started.
If you're asking me to choose, I'd go with GCT, hands down.
You will unlikely hear many good things around here about the downtown Cleveland race, its unfortunate timing (it used to be in late July), or its Los Angeles-based director. That's a shame, because there's no reason Cleveland can't have two great races. Racing downtown is cool. I even like swimming in the inner harbor--I'm guessing the water in the public pool isn't that much better.

New triathlete - this will be my first. I chose GCT for the Senior Olympics connection but really did not want to swim downtown. Glad I did. Not a member of CTC yet but if this goes well....
