I have the speedplay lite pedals and some diadora shoes with the typical cleats. My left foot feels like it's sliding off of the pedal (away from the bike) when engaged in the cleat, like it's not horizontal. Maybe it's my foot, maybe it's my shoe. Is there such a thing as a bike shoe shim that I could stick under the insole (specialized "red" insoles with the metatarsal bump) that would make it feel more stable on the pedal? Never happened before the new hip ... but it's nonplussing, y'know, to feel like you're sliding around on the pedal when you know you're not.
Thoughts, anybody?

Cleat shims fit between the cleat and shoe sole--you take the cleat off and reinstall it with the shim in place. They're designed to fix the problem (I think) you're describing. A bike fitter would help you try these.
Not sure if there's a shim that goes under the insole, but if you think the answer is inside the shoe, you might try a different insert.

Kate - I wear Speedplays also and they typically come with shims in that packet of accessories that gets thrown - Matt's right they go between the cleat and the shoe sole - If you still have the original box or keep a bag of leftover parts I suggest you first look there first - if not check out Eddy's or BA they should have some- Also you can get aftermarket in-soles for your biking shoes that provide a more stable platform for the foot - I have some (don't remember the brand) but they ran about $40 Good luck

Thanks, Matt and Jim. So I checked the Body Geometry site and it turns out that they DO have what I need. The Spin bike shop carries 'em, so I'm off to see them tonite. Thanks for your help.
