Well it's that time again, time for the USAT National Challenge Competition (NCC)! The USAT NCC Challenge is a promotion put on by USA Triathlon to keep us motivated throughout the year. Tri Clubs across the country go head-to-head to see who can log the most training miles during the competition and sign ups start now!
This year we are expecting great distances from you all - plus it is a great way to get in shape for triathlon season next year! Not only that, if you do not already track your mileage, this is a great way to get started!!! There will be certificates for top man and woman each month from USAT and CTC will be recognizing our top performers!
So how does the NCC work exactly? The NCC will feature three sessions, each one month in duration, from December to February. Clubs will record their training miles and submit them on NCC site for automatic calculation and ranking.
All sessions will include swim, bike, and run, but one sport will be highlighted for each session. The winning club for each session is determined by the greatest number of miles logged during that session for that month's discipline. There are also prizes for the first club to reach the benchmark mileage for each session, and Overall Combined Mileage for a club at the end of the three months.
While the OFFICIAL competition will be not be underway until December 1st,, NOW is the time to get everyone set up and on CTC’s roster!!! Please be assured no matter if you put up 1 mile a week or 200 a week, every little bit helps CTC and we want it to count. Enter today as we need 75 people to fill our roster!!!!
New this year, Athletes Can Enter Their Own Mileage into the actual website!
So here is how to get started-
1. Email CTC rep, yours truly (janet_e1@yahoo.com) the following information-
First Name:
Last Name:
USAT Number:
Age on 12/1/11
Gender
2. I will enter this information to CTC’s team roster on the official USAT NCC site. Once your information is entered, an email will go to the athlete (YOU) with their login username and password. Athletes are only able to enter their own miles, nobody else's.
3. Train, train, train and enter in those miles!!!!!
-----------------------
Some additional important notes-
* All participants must be members of USA Triathlon.
** USAT encourages miles to be logged on a weekly basis at a minimum.
***In order to equalize each discipline, disciplines outside of cycling are weighted
(1 Swim Mike=10 Miles, 1 Bike Mile = 1 Mile, 1 Run Mile -3 Mile)
December 2011 is swimming and the benchmark is 500 miles. Between the Reddy’s swimming and a few of our known dolphins, CTC has got a good chance of doing well! (January is Biking, February is Running!)
