Every year it seems a large group hit one of the I.M. races.
Which one for 2012 has anyone signed up for?
Anyone wnat to go for Arizona? We could load a van with People and bikes. I have a 15 passsenger.
would save on gas. and shipping bike.
just a thought.
What races has anyone signed up fpr so far?
I still plan on Rev 3 Full this year but i want to do a Trademark "Ironman" race in 2012

Doesn't seem like there is a "large" group going anywhere in 2012. There are a few going to Placid and a few going to Mont Tremblant. Both of those are full via normal registration, so you'd have to pony up the dough for a charity slot and you'd have to do it quick as those will fill up shortly as well.
I like to go places where I can drive my bike and myself in one reasonable day. Arizona definitely doesn't accomplish that.
Why not Louisville or Madison? I find it personally hard to wrap my head around training for IM in April/May or anything after October (there are just less long training opportunities). You should definitely do a IM Trademark race in 2012 - they are one of a kind.
All of that said - I don't plan on an IM race at all for 2012.

Madison is actually closer (less travel time) than going to Placid Not easy to get into so if you decide to go there you will have to signup the Monday after this years race

Madison was awesome. I did it two years ago. I think that or louisville would be good for you. Cant speak about louisville, but if you were taking the family there are only hotels to stay in. Placid you can camp or get houses if you were bring your troop.

Mike - Madison is the capital of Wisconsin - so you are in a city and Debbie is right - hotels are really the only place to stay for a family The race starts with big lake swim (not like lake Erie but more like Lake Seneca in NY) The bike is in cow country (10 miles from transition it is all country) a very hilly (rollers with a couple of short but steep climbs) The run is part in the city and the rest on the University of Wisconsin campus along the lake
Matt you are right - you can spend a lot of time getting through Chicago

You can by pass chicago and go south of it. I thhink that adds some miles but it saves time. I went that way except when i missed and ended headed towards chicago on the way home. Was a miserable fricken drive. (no comments tim). I now have a GPS. I do recommed it im moo.
