Both! I'm no help.
If your primary goal is to get faster racing triathlons, then a road bike won't help with that as much as a computrainer used properly.

The big push right now in training is using watts as your primary training tool. A computrainer forces you to work at the required levels for your entire workout. No cheating or resting during your workouts. There are a few pros that do majority of their bike workouts on computrainers to make certain they get the correct workout. No traffic lights, no motorists etc. I would recommend the computrainer and let me borrow it on a regular basis!

I have to get faster on the bike. After IMLP, I realized that the bike is what makes the race.
I would like to think I would use the computrainer more. If I went that route, is it ok to use my tri bike all year round on it?

computrainer, hands down, the single best way to get faster AND stronger on the bike. get one now so you can learn how to use it before the weather gets bad. learn how to use it, and use it!! it happens to be an expensive dust collector:-) i ride mine a min. of one day a week even in the warm, nice weather.
