Hi Gang! As most of you know, 6 of us had unfinished business in IMSG. of those 6, 5 will be doing Rev3 full to complete an Iron distance Tri. They are coming in from HI, WA, CA, AZ, GA, and Canada. Some of these folks are flush with cash and this is easy for them. Others, a teacher, and a gal that works for non-profit, not so much. The teacher had airline miles donated and I helped with her entry fee. The non-profit person, I helped with entry fee and she's having a local peep lend her his bike (one guess who the "kind heart" person is!?!) which we'll get fit a day or so before the full. Now another - Vc Kinnunen - who was pulled for the Kona lottery, has decided to do the half. He's looking to borrow a bike so he doesn't need to ship his. He rides a 58 or 60 cm bike. He doesn't need it to be fancy - really, any "old" road bike you've left sit in storage because you've upgrades would do. I'm putting out a call to borrow a road or tri bike, size 58 or 60, for Sept. 9-11, 2011. I can totally vouch for Vic!!! I'd lend him my Felt, if I didn't need it and it was the correct size Vic works for the government (high up!) and we can even get insurance on your bike if you fear damage, but he' just looking to support the SEVEN triabetes folks that will be out there, as he preps for Kona. Can anyone not racing that weekend let Vic borrow a bike?? I can put you two in contact directly - you'll know he's a stand-up guy and would treat your beloved steed (or not) with care and responsibility. He needs to move quickly, so if you can help, please speak up asap! I'm hoping a CTC peep can help him out!! Thanks! Tiffany

He can use mine if he thinks he'll fit on a 56cm.

Thanks James!! I'll toss that out as an option for him, but I'm betting he'd rather not go that low and risk injury due to improper fit - but I totally appreciate the offer!! I'm bumping this because Vic needs to make arrangements here soon. To summarize, looking to borrow a Road or Tri bike, 58 or 60 cm for Rev3 half. Doesn't have to be your beloved steed, but possibly a prior bike you've upgraded from? I will say this, Vic will treat your bike like it's a 7K bike and rest assured no damage will be done due to neglect or carelessness. Should it be your beloved, expensive bike you would be willing to loan, I'll get it insured, in the event of an accident. Vic is one of the most stand-up guys I've ever met! Ed Slovenkay can vouch for him, as do I! He was a former Triabetes captain during my reign. He's in a position to ship his bike, but we know how pricey that is, and with him heading to Kona, he's looking to cut corners where he can, so this is one option. So, I get any reluctance to say "he can use my bike!" but know that it will be returned in pristine condition, either by a flawless bike leg, or insurance covering any damage. And honestly, your old dusty bike in the garage would be fine for him!! No need to offer up the Cervelo P3!! Vic's an average athlete - his first and only IM was IMSG. He's just coming out to Rev3 to support us who have "unfinished IM business" and do a half in preparation for Kona. Hope someone can help him out! Thanks gang!! Tiffany

I have a 58cm Trek Pilot 5.0 that he can use. It is a 9 speed, Dura-Ace 105 mix. Currently it has pedals with toe clips and straps since my son is riding it, but I can throw on some SPD pedals. I have a 34 inseam and it works for me.

Tiffnay
I have the right size bike 60 cm
It is an older Trek may be better than the average road bike but does not compare with a newer Tri bike
I just throw this out as a last option
It is too big for me. The only reason I bought it was I could not pass up the price.
I am surprised how fast it is in comparison to my Felt tri bike
let him know
( the bike Rick listed seems better)

Thanks James, Rick and Mike!! Turns out Rick was the best option, BUT, Vic's coach NIXED the idea of riding a half on a foreign bike just 4 weeks before Kona. Felt it was definitely worth Vic paying to ship his own bike out so as to avoid injury and work on his form on HIS bike. So.... he's very, very grateful (I told him how awesome CTC is and I doubted I'd have trouble finding a kind and generous soul!), but he's going to ride his own bike.
Thanks so much, guys!! Tiffany
