Good luck to anyone doing St. George on Saturday. With a high of 91 and no cloud cover whatsoever this is going to be one tough race. Fluids fluids fluids.....all day long.

There are four Cleveland in St. George today. Tiffany Heindel, Ray Gurnick, Jerry Crabb and Mike Primrose.
Unfortunately Tiffany was taken out by a cyclist from behind. She suffered a concussion and is out. She started with a great swim of 1:18.
Ray Gurnick did St. George last year and is back for more. Swim 1:38:50 Bike 7:17:37 He is 6 miles into the run.
Jerry Crabb Swim 1:38:51 No bike finish yet.

Saw an update on Mike Primrose. He pulled himself from the race after the bike. The 93 degree heat made him stop at mile 83 on the bike. He made it back to T2 but decided not to continue with the run.

Ray is through the half way point of the run averaging a 12 mi/min pace.
As I was watching the finish line I heard a name announced from Brecksville. Ed Slovenkay confirmed that Jeanne Debonis was racing. She finished in 10:59 and won her 45-49 age group on the hardest IM course. Amazing.
Jerry still doesn't have a bike finish so I fear he may have not made a cutoff time.

Saw Jerry post on FB that he missed the bike cutoff by 15 minutes.
Ray Gurnick finished his race with 5:38:30 marathon to finish 14:56:36.
What a day out in Utah.

Hats off to everyone that raced this weekend at StG. I can personally attest to the opressive heat at StG. I ran on the run course ~2 pm with fuel belt and water bottle in hand. I had real trouble staying hydrated and avoided any of the water stations on the course since I was not racing. There were several locals selling water, ice, lemonade at stands which helped me out. At 5:00pm the temp reading on the rental car said 96 degrees. I haven't seen temps like that in Cleveland since August 2010 so what a challenge it was for those racing to acclimate to the conditions. I saw many out there with severe dehydration, it is so DRY out there. Even riding the course in cooler temps on Thursday I was struggling with hydration.
The scenery out there is amazing. I plan to race StG someday... What a great course!!
