Cleveland weather is generally on the crappy side - but the past several months is the worst i can recall in the decade i've lived here and the long range forecast does not look good.
how much is it effecting your training??
I'm dead on with my IM training but loosing momentum just as I've ramped it up a lot the past month.
This sh it has gotta change. I'm counting the days till i can move.

I have also heard the long range forecast this year doesn't look good. My husband is wondering if the volcanic eruption last year is causing any of this.
I have resigned myself that use of the CycleOps trainer is still necessary. The rain is killing my outdoor bike miles as a whole though. On the upside, all the training into the wind is creating some nice strength gains.

I have been out on my bike literally once this year and my half is less than 5 weeks away. Gulp. I'm really hoping Paula and I can eek out a 3:15 ride this weekend, so I don't continue to feel so undertrained. Anyone have an opinion of conversion of ride time on trainer (where there is no stopping, gliding, down, etc.) vs. outdoors? Of course, need to put time into my neck and back, but I can't sit on a trainer for more than 2.5 hours.

This weather breeds toughness.
People who train in nice weather all year are pansies.

Jen,
It is generally considered to be 1.5 to 2 times the road. So every 1 hour you spend on the trainer, you expended the same as a 2 hour ride on the road. Depends on intensity, obviously.

I've seen Jen on her trainer and she's INTENSE!

everybody has their own interpretation of "trainer" miles.
I have heard some well known coaches use a 1.2 rule.
Say you have a a 60 min ride (outside). You divide that by 1.2 it equals 50 mins on inside trainer riding.
Personally, I do not use this rule unless I feel the need to throw my bike into the TV while on the trainer.

Interestingly, due to knee issues, I've done more biking and swimming than ever. Biking outside in cold weather gear. Unlike most, I'm probably in better shape in those 2 disciplines than I ever have...

I am living in the gym and my running and biking is going well. I am with all of you though, I 'd much rather be outside everyday training!!

okay now its getting to me.
I been able to work around some of it but this is starting to irritate me
I don't mind running in cold when dry or wet when warm but not wet and cold
Its killing by bike time also
oh well looking forward to San Diego in a few weeks
