After monitoring conditions for the last several days - there are several changes to the Polarbear Plunge that you need to be aware of:
Huntington Beach frozen well past the breakwalls with thick snow and ice. So the venue has changed:
The Plunge will occur at:
Columbia Park in Bay Village (located just north of the intersection of Columbia and Lake Roads)
The Time remains the same: 11:30 am (plunging begins at Noon sharp)
The logistics have changed - see below:
Columbia Park is iced well outside of the cove; however, where the creek enters the lake, the ice is thin enough to break up and shovel out. We will prep a large pool area - 2 feet deep - to jump into. Instead of a mass plunge, we will need to go in a few peeps at time and jump out the other side. The water will still be 34 degrees - so - bring something warm and dry to jump into.
There is a small parking lot across Lake Road that will fill up quickly. You can't park on Lake Road so you may need to park on some nearby side streets. There is a Church parking lot across the street as well (park there at your own risk - we use it often in the summer time, so, it should be OK, but, no guarantees)
T-Shirts - those of you who asked us to hold back shirts - we'll keep them reserved for you until 11:45. After that - first come / first serve.
We still plan to head to Panini's at Detroit and Clague Roads after the Plunge for drinks and snacks.
Finally - if you re-up your membership at the Plunge - you can get your T-shirt for $8 instead of $10. Early bird membership price is in effect ($20 until the end of January).
