Its time to start thinking about the 2nd annual swim challenge and clinic at CSU. This was a great event last year! Don't miss out of this year's fun!!!!
2011 CTC Swim Challenge/Clinic
Sunday, January 30th, 2011 9:00 am – 12:30 pm Cleveland State University Natatorium
Its time for the 2nd annual CTC swim challenge and clinic. Beat the winter training blues by joining fellow CTC members and prospective members for this exciting training event. Challenge yourself to push your distance in the water, or sign up for one of two 90 minute swim clinics being put on by Leah Nyikes from Liquid Lifestyles and learn new techniques to improve speed and confidence. This year we will be hosting a clinic from 9-10:30 or 11-12:30 with the option to swim the challenge either prior to or after completing the clinic. This exciting event is a great way to add variety to your training, meet new people, and maybe even win a prize.
How it works: Choose one of the set distances below. You will be arranged into lanes when you arrive and start swimming! 25 x 100 yards 50 x 100 yards 75 x 100 yards 100 x 100 yards OR select one of the 2 clinic times: 9-10:30 11-12:30 please indicate which challenge distance you would like to attempt if any prior to or after your clinic time
Cost: $15 dollars for the challenge or $25 dollars for the clinic/challenge combo for CTC and/or CSU members ($20 and $30 respectively if not a member). This covers pool entry, food and drinks. Please make checks payable to Cleveland Triathlon Club.

Woohoo! I was sad to miss this last year. I'm in for sure, probably not for 100 though - looking at 50 or 75. I don't think I have the swim speed to finish 100 100's in 3.5 hours.......I'll have to do some math after I wake up a little bit more......

Some of you may remember last year's challenge was broken up into sets to keep things interesting and to help you keep count!!
Here are the sets for this year if you want to take a look, also these will be posted at the end of each lane during the event.......
100x100 - 1 minutes rest between sets (optional) 1-10 warm up of your choice 11-20 50 pull/50 swim 21-30 50 kick with fins / 50 swim with fins 31-40 25 kick with board / 50 swim / 25 pull 41-50 swim 51-60 choice (fins and pull optional) 61-70 pull 71-80 swim (fins optional) 81-90 swim or pull of your choice 91-100 survival swim- do whatever you need to finish!!!!
50x100 1 minutes rest between sets of 10 (optional) 1-10 warm up 11-20 50 pull/ 50 swim 21-30 50 kick with fins / 50 swim 31-40 swim of pull choice 41-50 survival swim- whatever you have to do to finish!!
25x100 1 minute rest between sets of 5 (optional) 1-5 warm up 6-10 50 kick/ 50 swim with fins 11-15 pull 16-20 swim 21-25 survival swim- whatever you have to do to finish
I cannot stress enough that these are OPTIONAL, just meant to keep you motivated and change things up a bit.
Most importantly this is your challenge do whatever you need to to finish, take breaks and rehydrate/ refuel as needed, you count your own yards and keep your own pace- there is no pressure. You will be arranged in lanes with people of similar ability level to help everyone feel comfortable.
Please bring your own swim gear if you have it, if not CSU had enough for some to borrow last year, but I can't count on that.
(I don't have anyone currently signed up for the 75x100 however I will be more than happy to make sets if someone wants to try that distance)

Also important to note for Sunday, we will be drawing the winner for the FREE ENTRY TO CEDAR POINT FULL OR HALF REVll!!! Valued at $500/250, someone is going to be a lucky winner. To date, there has not been many raffle tickets sold, so chances are good for entrants.
