Guys I cannot believe it. I have backed off training the past 2 weeks and WOW.
I went from 167 to 176. I am glad I weigh myself often because I caught it.
I guess it is simply I am still eating as though I am training 2 + hours a day but only doing less than 1 3 times a week.
Time to back off on calories.
I do not like this. Anyone else have similar stories of weight gain that quickly?
Thankfully I have caught it and since the last 2 days I am back down to 172 and heading down.

Doesn't sound like real weight gain. 176 was probabaly a gut full of liquid and dinner. However it's easy to put 5-10 on real quick. It took me an entire lazy season and 3 months of heavy beer consumption compounded by late night pizza and chicken wing runs to add 17 lbs. Every year I usually put on about 10 lbs between the end of the season and Jan 1. I think that we are so focused for 10 months a year that sopme serious downtown is required or you'll just burn out and lose an entire season.

I put 15 on after IMKY in about 6 weeks.
Immediately following IMKY I left for 6 weeks of work travel and with limited time to work out, a beer or two with every dinner, and constant eating out, I gained the weight very quickly.
You want to "let go" a bit after focusing on a race that much for such a long period of time, but sometimes you "let go" a little too much, like I did. I'm still trying to get used to the fact that I can't eat whatever I want to like I did in high school and college and not gain a pound.

It's called "race weight" for a reason though. If there wasn't a natural fluctuation, it'd just be "weight".
That said, im gonna keep nuts in check this winter.

It's good to be disgusted with myself every winter. Balances out all the thinking about how awesome I am for the rest of the year.

Yep I put on 10 too. Then another 6. d**n Pumpkin ales...then d**n xmas ales. However, I do find it interesting that my overall long run pace is down 22 seconds. This is not teaching me anything!
